Excellent. Just what I needed to avoid my numerous 'go arounds'.

Finally, someone that knows how to make an aircraft procedure video. Thanks

@StudyAcademic - FL stands for flight level. The term is used when an aircraft is at 18, 000 ft or above. (i.e- FL380 = 38, 000 ft) The vertical speed can be changed by the V/S button and the knob on the right (or left) side of the MCP (autopilot cntrl area). The more you increase the V/S the lower the speed you will be at because your pitch would be too high. However, the less you decrease the rate in the V/S the more your speed will go up because you're descending.

Most of those airports that are small, but not all, have RNAV approaches which is VOR to VOR navigation and then a non aircraft intrument guided approach (manual). There are other approaches also into smaller fields like VOR DME 1, 2, and 3. I do prefer the ILS though because it's like an integrated RNAV arrival since you can take off the autopilot / approach hold and fly the plane manually when you like.

Thank u so much. I used to always mess up the landings before. Great work!

@teddj16 once you have captured the ils and your plane is descending, keep your autopilot on until you reach around 1, 000 feet or a little bit below. It's really up to you when you turn off your autopilot.

ILS approaches control the altitude after the final approach fix. ILS is used on CAT 1, 2 and 3 weather conditions as well, be it rain, snow, low vis. or a combination of all three.

Somebody is a Coldplay fan:)
Good tutorial with good music. Thanks.

Hi Aaditya, I would check the transponder (radio panel) by pressing either shift 3 or shift 4 and find the CRS and frequency boxes for the ils in there. Everything thing else besides the location of those two things should be exactly the same.

Awesome tutorial! Simple instructions, well filmed and nice music.

Cheers

@RPC5181 The safest thing, at least for me not experiencing any problems is pressing the B key on your keyboard. The B key automatically sets your altimeter to your nearest airport of your current position. If you are flying on a network like vatsim, however, where you talk to the ATC, they will give you your altimeter (i.e 2998) through voice.

@yandimant1993 you should get a flaps chart/checklist for the aircraft you are flying. It will tell you how much of flaps you will need in a certain distance from the airport

@Tranzorr If you don't have that, you should plan your decent manually. When I say that I mean ask the controllers to get a decent to around FL260 (it depends on your cruise alt.) because if you don't do that, you will usually be a little bit too high for your final approach.

Thanks!!

It is a POSKY plane, when you land in SNA (Santa Ana) you have to land "first brick" because the runway is very short for 757s 737s Airbuses etc.

@jdiegosantana15 The APP button is the Approach Hold selector. You use this so your aircraft can turn correctly on its own to line up with your landing runway. The NAV1 (or the NAV1 frequency) is used to tune your aircraft with the arrival runway's landing frequency (i.e - 111.75). All of these things, including the CRS box, can help you with your autolanding / ILS landing.

yeah, at 40nm distance turn on NAV hold so your aircraft can read the localizer, and then once you are told by ATC to continue your approach and contact tower on what ever frequency, you turn on the approach hold.

Wow this is truly something. I couldn't have explain this better my friend! Good job! Thumbs up!

@FlyingDutchMan225 You have to start at your departure airport and open an IFR flightplan at that time so that the controller will know that you're going to your destination airport. You can try to do it without the ATC but you need payware aircraft stuff like an fmc etc.

@feastsinmalta I would recommend filing a flight plan before attempting an ILS landing.
