I'm an agnostic atheist and I don't believe marriage is particularly fundamental to have a family. But I'm still going to vote No in the referendum as I do not want the government to have even more control over us. Especially in current times when the government is enforcing these new hate speech laws for the so called "common good".

Ireland did great as a country with marriage being a cornerstone of the state. By extending this to "durable" with no definition we are making marriage an optional extra in society. This will certainly crash the marriage rate and the birth rate. Marriage/divorce provides societal protection to both spouses but also the children. Voting Yes to this could prove to be the worst thing that we have done to the state in our lifetimes. Its sets us on a very fragmented course devoid of protection for citizens.

Thank you for explaining in plain English. As a lot of us were not sure of what the referendum was all about. I think this information should have been shared on time, in other to educate the masses of the implications of a yes vote.

Although i am not able to vote, . I hope and pray the No vote wins.
