I've own the bike for a month now, you don't have to be at a full stop to switch it out from EV mode. You do need to be going less then 25mph and off the the throttle. Top speed I've gotten her in SPORT is 115mph.

I really aplaud Kawasaki for coming up with a hybrid motorcycle. It's really cool to see new models and new technologies in the world of motorcycles. Keep in mind that we really do have a lot of options with the oldtimers, various designs, various companies - the more the better I'd say.

However, I've come to believe and hope this is just a sort of test run - the motorcycle is actually far from impressive. In terms of efficiency and low consumption it has a powerful rival in Honda's NC 750X, a machine that is also automatic and much, MUCH cheaper. In other terms, there are machines that offer similar or better performance, and usually come at lower price.

IMO, it would be good if Kawasaki decided to upgrade the model. I'd say better ergonomics with the buttons, more smooth riding modes and clutch, an option to personalize some characteristics like the duration of the e boost. Finally, I think it would be great to see it with greater range and possibly better energy capture. Right now, a pure E mode with less than 20km range is just a sad story.

A lot of people missing the point of this bike. It's not the best bike for the open road, but it's ideal for grinding into major city centres, where you have constant traffic and low speed limits. It's highway and long range capable though, unlike most other pure EV motorcycles.

Great Review.. But.. Just get two bikes... a New E-motorcycle and an old sports/fun bike for the weekends.

Needing to take extra steps, like being fully stopped, to change the modes is to help ensure you remain in that mode while in a restricted city.

Awesome review, but my goodness smh I guess there’s a customer base for just about every idea or so they think

I can see someone interested in riding getting it because you don't have to learn to use a clutch. It would be pricey for a first bike though

In eco mode what happens when the battery runs out, does the engine take over or do you have to stop and switch it over

I see a market for this, imagine wanting a motorcycle at a mobile home park that does not allow motorcycles because they're loud. Yeah, just switch to EV mode and sneak out.

"That little extra money"

Bro its double the price for a purely electric mode that goes 20 miles.

Regardless if it's a DCT or this Kawasaki system, if it's shifting for you, it's an automatic. And that's ok. I just thought word games at the beginning were funny saying how it's actually a manual.

Personal opinion: If I didn't want to work a clutch and shift peg, I'd get myself a scooter. Part of the fun of riding a motorcycle is shifting gears and rev matching. Semi-auto with push buttons can't replace that. Being in full control is the main reason I switched from a maxi scooter to a sport bike to begin with.

Sorry but as a owner of a zx7 using the number 7 on that thing is a abomination.

That bike is not going to sell well.. No one with common sense is going to pay that much for 450cc bike, unless its some woke dork trying to be like one of the cool kids on sport bikes.
