Meh. I'm pretty sure you could also point to an clip in Thor in the beginning where they are celebrating in a similar fashion. So, it's more of a societal thing. I think the gesture mainly was to point out that as much as Lokj tried to separate himself from Asgard after learning he wasn't Asgardian, deep down he still was one.
