This is fine for new construction but not at all applicable to adding a window in a cmu block home. This is because there will be no steel plate or cast concrete to serve as a lintel. You will need to frame the block opening with dimensional lumber, including a header supported by jack studs. Header and lintel are often used interchangeably but this is one cases where the technical difference matters. Apply flashing tape to span across the window flange, framing of the rough opening, and part of the block wall. The framing material will also provide a way to attach wood trim to the interior and exterior of the window, as well as casing to to interior. I am a licensed contractor specializing in remodeling. Most cmu's are 7 5/8" wide so I rip 2x10 down to that width to frame with.

Links to suggested mounting products (home depot or manufacturers) would be very helpful. Thanks.

Dam this is a good one, especially from 2015, cause they even included the backerod- the one that only studied contruction workers know about.

And what is supporting those blocks at the top? I am curious because I am planning to build out of blocks with concrete and rebar in the middle and I am very new to all of it.

What to do with flashing if there's no stucco, brick veneer, or other finish wall materials? I.e. just painted CMU.

As a water damage contractor I love the fact no lumber is utilized.

Is this acceptable under Florida building code (for high wind)?

I don’t like that method because all windows aren’t pella windows with special clip in straps
