Why Choose Garmin for Marathon Training?
The Garmin is exceptional for tracking workouts and creating customized training plans specifically for marathon runners. It offers features like GPS tracking, workout suggestions, and performance metrics to enhance your training experience.

The Benefits of Whoop for Recovery
On the other hand, the Whoop strap is primarily a recovery tool that emphasizes sleep, strain, and overall health. It does not have a screen for real-time tracking during runs, but I love its minimalistic design and focus on recovery.

If I could only choose one device for marathon training, it would be the Garmin every time. In my experience, the Garmin is a must-have for serious runners, while the Whoop is more of a nice-to-have for those focused on recovery.

Important Consideration: Sleep Tracking
One key difference is how sleep is monitored; I've noticed that the Whoop tends to report I sleep on average one hour less compared to the Garmin. If you experience sleep anxiety, you might want to think twice before opting for the Whoop.

I use Garmin for both workouts and recovery. I think having one device that does both functions well is the best situation.

I have both. Use my Garmin for training and Whoop for following my recovery and stress levels. And like the journal option to see what has an impact on your recovery. Although after some time the value of the journal insights is less because you learn what has a positive and what has a negative impact. Personally I prefer wearing my Whoop for sleeping, found the Garmin too bulky and less comfortable for sleeping.

I have an apple watch ultra and a whoop and now that whoop added steps I may get rid of my ultra. I do think garmin is more focused/ better for runners though
