Why I chose this over all other Smartwatches - Whoop 4.0

The @WHOOP Strap 4.0 has been the answer to what I’ve wanted for a while: a robust fitness and health tracker with tons of data but NOT a smartwatch. That means I don’t have to worry about a screen scratching or breaking, it doesn’t demand my attention, and it has long battery life so that I can use it for sleep tracking.

I’ve already implemented it into my everyday life for the past month, but here’s my unboxing and overview!

I would buy a whoop in a heartbeat if I could buy it outright I hate that it's a subscription service.

Guys it’s $30 a month and you’re stuck in a 12 month contract to even use the app. Lol no thanks

I won't buy anything that needs a subscription. Not my phone, vehicle, internet, not anything. This product, because of the subscription, won't be bought by me.

I got tired of updating my Apple Watch, and paying the monthly added fee for the extra phone on my account. Plus, I prefer wearing traditional watches during the work day (go with my attire better than a smartwatch). I’ve worn the Oura ring for about a year now. It fits my needs better, but for fitness it’s not meeting my needs. Plus, it’s uncomfortable rowing wearing the ring. I’m going to try the Whoop hoping it meets my needs.

Ima be honest I have about 12 smart watches myself, and a bunch more traditional watches. Unless I wear a watch back to back, I rarely have a watch die on me after a full day of use, that's with always on display turned on.

I’ve been SERIOUSLY considering getting one. Now I might have to!

Could you list out all the other smart watches you're holding initially in the video

All good and well but not a fan of how hardware now morphs into a subscription service. This reminds me of how you spend a fortune on a new BMW which has heated seat hardware installed but you have to unlock it with a monthly fee.

I do calisthenics so I can’t have the Oura ring as an option and I didn’t know that the whoop was this sleek in design and that I could wear it with my wrist wraps for hand stands but I really wanted to have something to track steps and calories and all of that

Are you able to order it from South Africa?

Absolutely agree
Already moved to whoop since july 2023 but still need my fenix to do exercise.
Whoop is the best sleep recovery strain data
Garmin is the best for my exercises

Yeah, but it is nice to actually be able to tell the time sometimes and answer calls or see who messaged you without having to pull out your phone little things like that or being able to play Spotify on a run without having to bring your phone. I’ll stick with my fit bit. I like them because they give you just what you need and nothing more and my battery last longer than a week so I’m never really worried about it dying because it only takes two hours to charge and that last me about 8 to9 days

They need to make a smartwatch collaboration with the accuracy of this.

I know there are a lot of benefits, and for something like this, I won’t even mind a subscription. That is, until I realized how expensive it is. Just get something like the fitbit flex 2. It has no screen and is very simple, and has a long battery life of 5 days compared to about 1 days for other watches. Premium isn’t a must, and its 10 dollars a month instead of 30.

My garmin 935 is 5 years old and the battery lasts me 2 weeks still and stays alive during the length of an Ironman race with continues gps the entire time. And the odds of it breaking are next to none considering I was in a severe mountain bike accident and shattered my damn wrist but my watch only came out with a few scratches and it took a direct high intense impact.

But a monthly subscription is a no go for many people. Not cool

I am out at sea for months, some days without internet. Will whoop be able to track and work correctly for me ?
