I used to be a cop in Augusta. I can give you plenty of reasons not to move to Augusta. Sorry and understaffed sheriff’s office, corrupt local politicians, If you’re a small business trying to win contracts you gotta be part of the “clique” in order to stand a chance(gotta know somebody), full of gangs, unruly juveniles running the streets, no comedy club, did I mention there’s always a shooting like the shooting downtown the other day with thousands of people hanging out?, and the terrible roads with all the potholes will tear up your car just to name a few. If you want to move to the augusta area move to COLUMBIA COUNTY! Stay out of RICHMOND COUNTY! Your families lives will be I. Constant danger, and you will have to put your kid in private school to keep them safe and not dumb, because the Richmond county board of education is just as bad as the commissioners. There are plenty of articles online that will show you how corrupt they are.

My wife and I have Augusta on the retirement list. We are looking for slower pace and warmer weather. We currently live in the DMV and looking forward to getting out of the hustle and bustle.

actually night life here as a young adult is actually not bad especially in downtown always people out and crowded after 5:00 am it’s dead but night life scene in augusta is actually on the rise really fast especially with the entertainment district there creating here so i wouldn’t say that’s a reason
