I cannot imagine a nailtech doing some fixes for free and proactively asking a client to come for a free session of fixes 🤯 Im impressed by your approach 🤗

This is such a life saver
I’m a beginner DIY, and I’m always beating myself up over the cuticles, especially when working with gel. I struggle so much with that area, from manicures to doing the nails, it’s so hard! Hearing you say not to beat yourself up over it, I feel a whole lot better.

Awesome ! We called this technique a “buff out” in the 90’s. I still offer buff outs for my clients who like to go longer between fills and who are not as rough on their hands. When you said you tell your clients not to use their nails as tools it reminded me of my instructor who would often repeat this phrase “ Your nails are jewels, not tools” ! Took me right back . I love your videos and am so proud and happy for you. Thank you for your time and awesome tips. 💓

I actually do this on my own nails about once a week-ish and refresh my polish - I’m not a nail tech, I’m a hairstylist and I’ve built a reputation on having pretty nails with my clients - some times it the entire conversation, so it’s really fun ;) they never really get that I do my own, I don’t have time to go to a salon and get them done because I’m self employed ;) so I do them at night on my own time ;)

Such a good tip about getting clients to come back after a week. If you made an mistakes then you can catch them before they lift or get ripped off and the client won’t think your work is bad haha

I've been doing a gel overlay on my natural nails since the pandemic started and whenever I got some lifting on my cuticles I just did the whole thing. It never occurred to me that I could just fix up that area! Thank you for this video Suzi, this will save me a lot of time :)

I really love this woman. Suzzie explains everything, and really gives great tips & trick. She will have all of us doing our nails, better than the uncaring nail technicians in our areas. 😂

I am so dealing with this right now! I did my nails for the first time with Polygel. Burano kit from Amazon. It went really well. I’ve done acrylics a few times for special occasions.
Let me tell you doing polygel was the hardest thing to do in my whole life. I made fancy cakes, BBQ meat, fix my car myself, all kinds of stuff but this is the HARDEST things I’ve ever done! Hats off to you!
I’m getting a drill, doing by hand is for the birds.

Thank you so much for this little video. I thought that getting a week out of a (self) manicure was a horrible ratio and my expectation was at least two weeks. Thank you for the perspective that I’m not a failure for having a little bit of a rougher cuticle! It takes practice!

thank you for this video!! being self taught i'd give myself rings of fire trying to get the cuticle right on the first application! it's good to know that a cuticle touch up is normal <3

Thank you SO much for explaining about how the length of a person's nail bed can factor into how long nails would last before lifting or growing out. I always thought I was doing something wrong, and it's never once dawned on me about how short my nail bed is along with having short nails to begin with. With that quick tid-bit, you've given me the motivation to keep going with my practice and progress! Love your videos!

This is EXACTLY what I needed. How did you know? I'm doing pretty good on my nails but the cuticle is still a little rough after the one week grow out. I didn't know if I could fix it without a fill.
