As someone who lives in Bangkok, I'm pretty impressed you could still find these cheap street foods. Prices have gone up a lot in recent years.

Haw mok is indeed meant to be eaten with rice. There's also the type that instead of it being grilled flat over coal, its steamed in a banana leaf bowl with cabbages/other herbs underneath. My favorite food really.

Also, the vendor was so sweet, she said she'd get you a hot/fresh one when you ordered.

As a Cantonese speaker, we call egg cakes “Dan go jai”. One of my favorite childhood snacks of all time!
