Programming HX Stomp For Bass | The Janek Gwizdala Podcast #281

I'm programming new sounds for my HX Stomp today, and getting into some fundamental and more importantly useful sounds for regular bass players.

As much as the YouTube algorithm might feed you some of the more flashy and soloistic moments of my career, the bigger portion of my bass playing life has been spent in the lower register of the instrument holding the band together.

With that in mind, I would like to put some more useable presets out into the world, and I just started breaking the ice in today's podcast with the HX Stomp and what might be possible.

Just got my HX Stomp today and absolutely floored with so many options suddenly available to me. This video could not have come out at a better time, Thank you!

This is great. Please go farther into the process, as that is the hardest part, getting to the point of finalizing a sound. Thanks Janek!

I thought Janek was going to snap talking about the comments on moving the mic stand. People are focusing on the wrong thing. Love the vids.

As a relatively new Stomp XL owner this is an incredibly exciting video to see pop up today

So dope to see you hook up with my dude Ian Allison recently!

That was incredibly helpful! I've had my Stomp XL for a couple of years and am inching toward putting it on my "live" board. One aspect that I still can't seem to grasp is how Snapshots work. The manual is pretty vague. I'll get it eventually. And when I do, I'm sure it'll be a game changer!

I have an HX Stomp I have owned for a little over a year, it is nice for guitar, and I just started exploring the depths of options available for bass. Thank you for the video, the HX is going to change my approach to bass. Shuffle looper alone is a game changer. Stereo rigs are easy, too. Fun stuff.

I just received my HX Stomp XL less than a week ago, and I love it already! I'll have to buy both your and Ian's presets! :D I look forward to the Regal Bass DI vs. your Noble! It could be a great series of videos, comparing the real-deal pedals against the Helix version (you could even compare the Ampeg B15 & SVT presets to what Ampeg has in the Venture amps!). Fantastic video, Janek!

I love when my two internet bass dads collaborate more content with you and Ian please.

Most definitely has a bit crusher in the stomp, it’s hidden with the fuzz’s/distortions. Thanks for doing AND sharing this, super cool and helpful to hear your process. Looking forward to seeing you in Chicago!

Janek, you are prolific at the moment!

I haven’t read through all of the comments but there is a bitcrusher/sample rate reducer under the distortion bank. That may get you closer to the sound you were trying to get towards the end of the video. Thanks for everything!

I’m pretty sold on the HX Stomp and if I get one it WILL be because of Janek and Ian I have the old bass pod but it’s so old

Haven’t ordered a bass book in years but just purchased your pentatonics book from Amazon. Excited to get stuck in - admire your playing

An option for Australia, specifically Canberra; Smiths Alternative.

It’s a relatively small venue, but they have a very good local audience that are down for a lot. I used to play here years ago, mostly as a smaller venue when touring by road. Not sure if you’d fly between cities or drive, but it’s an option.

Why put the Regal DI in the Distortion menu? Why not PreAmp? Took a lot of looking to find it.

There is a small but very enthusiastic jazz audience in Newcastle north of Sydney. There is a great little venue at The Grand Hotel which is dedicated to jazz. We have had a few international acts through.

Man, it was great watching you build a preset in real time. I was thinking it might make for a fun stream, just building presets live... But you'd probably have a lot of backseat builders. Anyhoo, can't wait to check out the new presets when they're ready!

Hi Janek, I’m really looking forward to that Working Man Preset.
