En el mismo juego god of war dónde sale Thanatos menciona que ningún dios se atrevía a entrar en territorio de Thanatos, además de que cuando matas a una de las hijas de Thanatos obtienes un poder y en la descripción del poder dice que es un poder temido hasta por los mismos dioses. De igual manera kratos fue el primero en entrar en territorio de la muerte, antes de el ningún Dios, Semidiós, Mortal, Titán, hasta los mismos Zeus, Poseidón y Hades nunca habían entrado en los profundos dominios de Thanatos. Thanatos is a Primordial God who was alive before any of the Greek Gods. He is the Primordial God of Death and every greek God is afraid of entering his domain they fear him and that alone shows how terrifyingly powerful he is. Only 2 Gods can beat Thanatos and that's Fear Zeus and Fully Raged 100% Power Kratos. Or power of Hope Kratos but he didn't have the power of Hope at that time yet.
