I am amazed the Psycho house had three location as for the longest time i thought is was in the same place since the
Original movie until i went on the universal tram tour around twenty years ago and a tour guide told us this.

I believe that location 1 is incorrect. The area you indicated would have been the location of Laramie Street

As far as I can tell, the original location was about 70-100 yards to the northeast of the present location. (Just inside of the large building that occupies the spot)

My analysis is based on the topographical map online. Two factors point away from your assertion.

First, the location you indicated is on (relatively) flat ground. The portion of the hill behind the house, that Hitch avoided showing rises rather quickly, so they would have had to remove a large amount of land to create the location you indicated.

Second, the same map shows the dirt road that runs past the motel and eventually passes between the house and rear of the motel. Both sections of the road that once connected to the former Laramie St are gone, but the section on the hill is still recognizable. Its the road that runs on the south side of the studio building, (the one immediately to the east of the present house location) and makes a 135 degree turn into the east parking lot of the building.

There was a Psycho 4, and an 80’s TV movie called Bates Motel and a remake where the new house was put in front of the old one.
