Did The Knicks Get A Steal In Kristaps Porzingis?

Details for the movie "Amateur" are down below.
Coach Nick broke down the game of this 20 year Latvian rookie, examining how he's been contributing on both ends of the floor. Porzingis is supremely skilled for someone who is 7'3" tall and has the rare ability to post up or spot up. As he matures, gets stronger, and more adjusted to the speed of the NBA game, there is no doubt in my mind he will be worth every bit of his ranking as the 4th pick in the 2015 NBA Draft.
"AMATEUR" is a forthcoming feature film Executive Produced by NBA champion and All-Star TONY PARKER of the San Antonio Spurs, produced by NETFLIX andMANDALAY PICTURES ("WHEN THE GAME STANDS TALL").

"AMATEUR" is the story of a 14 year-old basketball phenom whose mixtape gets millions of views on YouTube. He is recruited to play for the high school team of a boarding school, where he struggles to fit in with his older teammates.

We are casting REAL BASKETBALL PLAYERS to STAR in the film. No acting experience necessary - but basketball skills are required!

We are looking for one very young player (character is 14; actor should be age 12-16) and four older players (characters are high school seniors; actors should be 17-24 (college aged and older is fine)).

"AMATEUR" will film January-February 2016 in Denver, Colorado.

We are casting these roles:

TERRON FORTE
14 years old (you should be age 12-16), African American, very tall for his age, Terron is only in 8th grade but is already a superstar on the court - he's so good he plays on the high school varsity team with all of the older kids.

ANTON LYLES
18 years old (you should be 17-24), African American, a tall senior guard on his way to a big-time college and NBA career. Anton is used to being the star of the team and beefs with Terron... MUST BE ABLE TO DUNK

WOLODOMYR PETRUS
19 years old (you should be 17-24), A huge center from a foreign country, recruited from overseas, fun-loving and cracks a lot of jokes. MUST BE VERY TALL AND HAVE A FOREIGN ACCENT

EMMANUEL OKOYE
18 years old (you should be 17-24), A forward recruited from Africa, he quickly becomes Terron's friend but gets injured and his basketball career is put at risk. MUST HAVE AN ACCENT AND/OR SPEAK A FOREIGN (AFRICAN) LANGUAGE

VICTOR GOMEZ
18 years old (you should be 17-24), A Hispanic guard who is the enthusiastic "hype man" on the team, he spends lots of time on social media and helps promote Terron's career. MUST SPEAK SPANISH

1. Name
2. Contact # and email
3. Date of Birth
4. Which role you are submitting for

I'm not a huge basketball fan, but I REALLY appreciate the work you guys put in with these videos. I love the in-depth look at whatever topic the video is covering. I wish there were a channel just like this one for football.

Phil Jackson took a lot of heat for this pick, but he stood behind him 100%. Said he had one of the broadest skill sets he's seen..

I don't know what rookie highlight vid it was on youtube but it did a feature on Porzingis and his potential. Many comments started saying that he would make a really bad 7'3" Center in the NBA. What they didn't realize was that he wasn't going the play the 5 early in his career and maybe never with the kind of skillset he has. And he's showing some of that potential and promise so far for a big who can move well AND shoot from beyond 20 feet.

Well said! KP is also great because he is mentally mature and takes his job very very seriously. He's not a "take the money and just party" type of dude.

I had my doubts on draft day, but so far... he's looking like a dirk that can defend. He just needs to stop fouling. he's only playing 24 min a game bc he gets in early foul trouble. gonna be great to see KP and Gallo down the line together.

I was hyped When phil drafted him. He fit the system. He is learning as he go along.
He will only get stronger bigger and faster with the proper work out regime.
I wont say he will be the next Dik.. But he will be a solid contributor. He will be a Key Cog in that triangle for years to come... Ill be honest.. I tire seeing the game ran by PG's using screens and floaters getting bailed out by contesting big who are only protecting whats theres... I want to see a mixture of the game.

KP will end up being the best player in the draft. My Knicks have a ton of hope. We also have a really nice young backcourt in Langston Galloway and Jerian Grant. In a few years when these guys develops the Knicks can be serious title contenders.

thanks for the great insight coach nick, that's what i was saying the night Porzingis was drafted by NYK. i just dont know about this people hating on their no. 4 draft. my point was same as you, big man who can run, quick on his feet, 20 y/o, can knock perimeter jumper, and can also knock 3 pts, and just like as you say it, 7 ft 3, 7ft 3, 7 ft 3.... imagine with a proper mentor/trainer/coach, imagine the damage this kid would do to the opposing team.

another great point coach, I'M IN!!! =)

Definitely think the Knicks have something in Porzingis... the thing i like the most is his mentality. He doesn't hesitate, and seems to grasp the offense well enough to know when to take his shot. It's awesome, and exciting, to see!

Really liking how the Knicks players' instincts are kicking in in terms of off the ball movement in those highlights. Signing Sasha Vujacic was a good decision. Can't wait for the timing and execution to improve when they all get used to each other.
Will you be making another video of this one day +Bballbreakdown?
Oh, and regarding KP, the biggest things is just conditioning and injury prevention. Knicks should just throw in like a 100k on some R&D for his shoes :P

I'd love to see an analysis on the Spurs' Boban Marjanovic. Not because he's as good as Kristaps, because he isn't, but be because he is on the best team to become the best player he can be, and him being 7'3 also makes that terrifying on a team like the Spurs.
