I went to HighSchool with Delilah and ran track with her. She had beat so many track and field and cross country records in our state. She got a full scholarship to Columbia University in New York. I am a year younger than her so in September of 2001 when New York City was under attack, our biggest fear was Delilah's well-being and she did call and keep in touch with what was going on. She did train for the Olympics, but never made it past the trials. She is still a runner with a lot of achievements. This to say she's pretty famous in her own sphere. There is some inside baseball stories about Tom and Delilah, but I prefer to let the lore live on. It is such a beautiful song

Wow! That is amazing because Delilah is so powerfully bittersweet that it just goes straight to your heart. I never thought they ended up together. Long distance relationships are hard enough for anybody, but almost impossible when you are that young, which just gives it a sort of tragic sincerity. That he could make it all up and sound so real shows what a gifted song writer Tom is.
