The latest update for TOPAZ PHOTO AI introduces two new upscale models: Standard Version 2 and High Fidelity Version 2. This update also includes various bug fixes. Additionally, the Object Selection Brush has been integrated into the Remove Tool. A new feature has been added to the Object Selection Brush as well - a mask hover feature for the Subtract brush.

Thanks for the video. Tried it a few times and like some previous updates my images are way over sharpened. Under autopilot sharpening up around 90%. I pull it back to around 30-40. Like previously, I hope this will be corrected soon. Previously problem was with my ARW files. Since sold Sony gear and now with OM-1 ORF RAW files.

I only got the Topaz Photo AI Windows 8 version instead of the Windows 11 version option. Talk about a living nightmare I went through!

I have Topaz Photo AI and the biggest issue is that when working with low-resolution images the AI improves faces quite well but it destroys hands in particular creating extra fingers and distorted limbs, worst of all is that when you try to remove this area it doesn't work. I find the best way to use AI for photo restoration is to run the photo through AI first this allows you to zoom the photo in once in Photoshop without seeing only pixels, clean the image etc then run it through AI again. Sometimes if the AI destroys fingers etc I fix them in Photoshop and leave it at that for putting the photo through the AI again creating mangled fingers. Topaz needs to fix this issue of mangled hands and at least make the removal from the subject tool work!

Pro tip: I mostly use Photo AI (PAI) as an Affinity Photo (AF) plugin. Should I need to remove an object I'll do the sharpening first in PAI and send it back to AF, duplicate the sharpened layer and send the duplicate layer back to PAI for object removal. Effectively non-destructive editing. Your welcome 😉

Is the upscale result in Gigapixel AI the same as in Photo AI?

I can't get the object selection brush to work. When I go to the removal tool, select object selection and hover the cross hairs over an object and left click, nothing happens. The brush works fine but that involved painting. Also when I try to paint over the object I want to remove, nothing happens either. No "red" paint. For my copy the removal option seems to be broken since the update.

Thanks for the explanations! Maybe it's just me, but the remove of that shell in the lower left corner didn't do such a good job in reconstructing the background.. Photoshop, when I tried it on a similar photograph, was way better.

Removal tool is taking 1 to 2 minutes on my machine. Running a I7 at 3.4mhz 4 cores and 8 processors and a Nvidia geforce GTX 1050 gpu with 4gb. Will probably update my gpu to a GeForce RTX 2060 w 12gb.

I will not upgrade and pay 200$ again one year later after purchase of the software. The should think about an Abo for existing users for a much cheaper price

i bought Topaz AI in December 2022 for 149 Dollers, the complete program. Now they did an upgrade (even if it might be a big upgrade) and if i want to upgrade i have to pay ANOTHER 199, 00 Dollars??? Are they insane? Thats more than the original software. No thanks, i think i gotta quit Topaz and check out alternatives, this is outrageous!

I will not support them anymore…They have not updated the impression or studio or studio 2 software they had. Now Photoshop has started a filter that is somewhat like the old impressions. Will use the old versions of there software. They have really missed out here !

It’s not an update, it’s an upgrade. Not worth the cost. Software is way too slow. I’ll stick with the old stuff.

Honestly I just dont think Topaz AI is very good at doing what it claims, none of them are. I've messing about with it. tried all sorts of settings following tutorials, just gives that smeary AI new Beatles video look. And if Peter Jackson cant get a good result...
