I hate when people put up arbitrary benchmarks for EVERYONE just to justify their own insecurities.

For example, if I said "You should quit the gym if you can't bench 110kgs in 4 months", it would completely nullify this TikToker's argument and his pride. I wonder how he'd feel then.

Be kind to yourself and to other people, especially when we're all trying our best.

if people actually started to believe and do this, no one would ever be at the gym, it's kinda dumb

100% True. I'm a cyclist, and this is like me saying "If you cant put out 400W, you might as well quit."

Almost 40yo, never been to the gym before. Now, one year after starting the gym I got to bench press 80kg (~175lbs) (12 repetitions) and I'm happy with my evolution. I've never been strong, I´ve been skinny almost my entire life.

Honestly at this point i think people say this stuff just for ragebait, attention, it doesn't even make sense "if you're not strong already don't try to get strong"

It took me 4, 5 years to hit 225 on bench. Went through a lot of injuries and brick walls just to get it. Never give up!

The best part about a weakness is the joy you find when you turn it into one of your biggest strengths.

I’ve never heard of anybody benching 225 the first time. World record holder Ryan Kennelly who benched 1075 shirted and 680 raw said he started at 135 as a teen. So next time someone tries to act all high and mighty just remember this.

that guy literally missed the very purpose of the gym 💀

Why do people shit on people who have worked hard but just have not met what others do? If your so good why not help others? It’s a positive feedback loop. If you help others they get better. If they get better you are pushed to be better so they push there selfs to be better and so on. People need to use ego the right way. To push there limits not there follower count.

I benched 80kg at 60kg bodyweight my first time in the gym, but that was after years of pushups

Took me about 2, maybe 2 and a half, yearas to reach 100kg benchpress. I worked really hard and I'm proud I got there eventually. I am now up to 110kg for a double.

if you can't lat raise 210 KG on your first day, just quit‼️‼️🗣️🗣️

It also depends very much on your height and body weight. If you weigh 60 kg and can bench 100 kg, that's very different than if you weigh 80 kg and do the same thing. I feel like most people just forget that, or maybe they want to ignore it.

I mostly do 16kg Kettlebell for overhead presses and squats, 20kg for Deadlifts and 2x 16.5kg (33kg total) dumbbells for chest presses for 15 - 20 reps.

It's not much, but it's something I can stick to and it feels good once finished.

real, i’ve seen so many people being toxic towards random women starting out at the gym, who can’t lift as much, and posting their gym journey. they get hate BECAUSE OF LEGGINGS MADE FOR WORKING OUT-
