Very interesting! As a European, in school I haven't learned much about the history of places outside of Europe as much as I would have liked to. Greetings to Thailand from Germany!

When the video about the history of Thailand is launched, there will be always criticisms and hate speech from Khmer netizens that Thais stole their territories and culture, ignoring the fact that Thais are descendants of Old Mon Dvaravati in the Chaophraya river valley mixed with Tai-speaking from southern China. Genetic evidences also indicate that Thais are Southeast Asians, not Chinese as some Khmers claim.

The original Khmers occupied the Lower Mekong valleys and invaded ancient Siamese Mon territories (Dvaravati and Lavo) later. If you claim Thais stole territories from Khmers, Khmers also stole territories from the aboriginal Negritos. They’re true first human race in SEA.

Nationalism in Thailand and Cambodia make them fight against each other. That’s a tragedy. Unlike Myanmar people, they are adorable and never think of the past that is a nonsense matter. It’s the period of absolute monarchy, no nation state yet. We can’t prove what’s true or false. Several kings competed each other as mandala system in the ancient Southeast Asia, and people of multiple origins and ethnic background moved around in the region. No one can claim that’s theirs, that’s yours, that’s ours.

Please stop arguing and better support each other in developping our region. Thai and Myanmar people is fighting against dictatorship for democracy as part of Milk Tea Alliance (together with Taiwan and HK). Hope both Thai and Khmer nations stop nationalist arguments.

Thailand just born in 1238 (Sukhothai) in the land of Khmer before. And Khmer empire is in 803. I don’t understand why Thai people now always say that Khmer stole the land of Thai ???
