The Sony RX100 VII was released in 2019, but this camera still packs a BIG punch for such a small package, even in 2023/2024. If you are in the market for a portable, lightweight, 4K capable, professional camera that also takes outstanding RAW photos... there really isn't a better option than the RX100 MVII.

I use my RX100-7 since April 2021 for professionnal purpose, for industrial pictures - more of 50.000 pictures selected (on more of 200.000 taken). And use it to film video too, for personnal purpose. Easy utlization, good results.

It's been my Point & Shoot since 2020. I don't need any other. Thanks for the video.

I bought the camera and yes - it is even better than I expected. A camera at that weight, with an incredible EVF integrated = the built-in zoom lens 2.8 app - and 24 - 200 zoom at a weight of +/- 1 lbs s second to none.

Instead of carrying an extra lense, i just bring my RX100 vii.

Its super versatile. Some of my favorite photos have been taken with the RX. Perfect match with a standard length fast prime lens on your main camera.

Excellent Review. I've been thinking about selling my RX100vii but it's so portable and the image quality and build (it's built like a tank) are so good, I can't let it go. While smart phones have killed off most point and shoots, this one is an exception as it's always been much more than a regular point and shoot.

I'm not a pro, and shoot stills almost exclusively. I have a Nikon DSLR, and wanted a smaller, lighter "walking around" camera. Settled on a Sony RX-100 II several years ago, which I still use a lot, supplemented by an RX-100 VI a few years ago. The lens on the II is sharper, but it only zooms to 100mm. The VI is a bit less sharp, but zooms to 200mm. Last time I went out west for photography, I took the Nikon with me, but used the Sonys instead. They're easy to use and reliable, with excellent image quality. Yes, battery life should be better, so I have multiple batteries, but folks, this little wizard fits in my pants pocket and has produced several published photos and a pair of magazine covers! I take one or both Sonys with me everywhere. The VII looks like it's even better.

I have no record limit with the RX. I use it as B cam to capture the whole scene. It's set and forget and after two hours I turn it off. I plug a Powerbank into the camera, so this thing would run over hours, also without any overheating issues. It is really still one of the best b cam you can get. Love it.
And with reviews like yours you really see that creators all over the world who tested this camera, directly understand the capabilities of this little powerhouse. It sad to see, that this kind of camera is so super niche today. Think about a RX100 VIII with the neural engine, the new dynamic active IS etc etc.. If this will happen, I'm the first one to buy this thing. There is still so much potential in this camera line.

2:56 That blur is amazing! I wish the mark 8 had come out already. It's been 5 years since the mark 7. It needed some updates, especially that software/menu thingy.

I fully agree, using one since 2019 😀

I’ve been eyeing this for about 6 months. My only concern is the potential that may come with dust in the sensor but that is starting to seem like a small risk now. We’ll definitely pick this up now. So useful for concert photography and video

I just picked up a used one from eBay to take backpacking. I wanted to bring my full frame, but excited to have a tiny camera with so main amazing features.

Hey Kraig, I'm glad you love this camera so much! I had it for a few years and I bring it with me every time I travel, but I often struggle with post production, as I feel the colours are not often right. Could you make a video about which settings you use with this camera to shoot photos and videos and some tips to get the best out of it? If a video doesn't work for you, even a comment or an addition to the video description might be useful!

I bought this camera in October, and although it's a great camera, it's just not for me. Too small for my hands, and I don't care for the small EVF. Most likely I'll sell it and buy the A7C II, which is a little larger.

Excellent review. I have had a RX100VA since about 2018, which I use primarily for hiking and skiing for stills. I like its faster lens. However, in the mountains I often wished for a longer focal length lens, so at the beginning of 2023 for skiing I bought a RX100VII, but I kept the 100VA as a companion. The two cameras in a small bag work well. Interestingly, I have just returned with the family from visiting the Christmas markets in Vienna and I took the VA over the VII because of the lower light levels; it worked well. I have often said it would be great if the RX100 line had two paths; a faster 24-70 lens and a long telephoto lens - both with updates technology evolves.

A rabbit hutch with metal rings can effectively solve the problem of overheating (because the metal rings conduct heat) and provide grip.

The RX100 Mk6 still had the recording limit, the Mk7 doesn't have it anymore. But the batteries are small and the camera might overheat when recording 4k too long.

I highly recommend the RX100-7, it has the same sensor as the bigger brother, RX10-4. The RX100 has outlasted similar cameras Panasonic ZS50 and Canon S100. The ZS50 had a 3 years warranty but the contractor in the US refused to honor it because they claimed I abused the camera, I just used it alot. And the S100 had a limited number of shutter clicks and broke twice, and Canon wanted half the price of a new camera to repair. For those of you who are buying the RX100, get the little plastic grip, it costs like $20, it helps to get a better grip. Surprised me that Sony just didn't include it in the price.
