I recently convinced a friend of mine who wasn't familiar with M Night to watch Unbreakable. Then, a few days later I recommended Split to her without mentioning that they were connected. So she is probably one of the few people nowadays who was actually surprised by the twist at the end of Split

I don’t fully know how to rank all of M. Night’s films because the quality of his filmography is so wildly uneven, but The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, and Signs are three movies I consider to be perfect at what they’re trying to be. Unbreakable especially is in my Top 10 Favorites of All Time.

16. The Last Airbender (2010) - Pretty boring but has some cool set designs.

15. Lady In The Water (2007) - Nice effects but downright boring.

14. The Happening (2008) - So bad it’s good but has some good frightening scenes.

13. After Earth (2013) - Decent CGI but bland performances and story.

12. Praying With Anger (1992) - Enjoyable but a bit boring.

11. Old (2021) - Terrifying special effects but lame twist.

10. Glass (2019) - Great to see all the characters together but could’ve been better.

9. Wide Awake (1998) - Nice little dramedy.

8. The Village (2004) - Great performances and suspense.

7. Knock At The Cabin (2023) - Awesome tension and suspense from all of the actors.

6. Split (2017) - James McAvoy and Anya Taylor-Joy did great jobs and loved that twist.

5. The Visit (2015) - Always rooting for found footage films and was not disappointed.

4. Trap (2024) - Thrilling scenes and Josh Hartnett is always great to watch.

3. Unbreakable (2000) - One of the best Bruce Willis/Samuel L. Jackson films in my opinion.

2. Signs (2002) - Favorite actors in a film together… with aliens? Bet.

1. The Sixth Sense (1999) - For the twist list, hands down the best.

The Village pretty underrated, not here necessarily, just in general. M Night got some good stuff

The Sixth Sense is just so iconic. I love Unbreakable and Signs, but The Sixth Sense just hits different. Is a legendary movie indeed.

My ranking of the three I've seen would be:

1. The Sixth Sense
2. Signs
3. Unbreakable

I think all of these movies are fantastic. There is an indescribable passionate effort that brings these projects to life. Especially with the phenomenal acting in sixth sense and signs.

Pretty surprised you didn't put Sixth Sense at number one. Not because I think it deserves it but more so because I've always found Unbreakable and Signs underrated.
Unbreakable is PROBABLY up there with my favourite movies.

Also another unpopular opinion, I think split should be at number 2, it's a genuinely tense thriller with a great lead actress, her character is interesting and tragic, it has an all star performance by James McAvoy, the premise of a murderer with DID is just really fun.
The progression of information and revelations is paced perfectly, not only with the main character but with Kevin. The reveal that there actually IS A beast works as a twist in and on itself, but then they tie everything together with the second twist and it changes everything, without being dumb. I think it's a very well constructed movie. I think it deserves number 2

Totally agree with the Unbreakable, but I don't get the hate to Lady in the water, is MUCH better than The Happening.

The Village is an excellent drama imo, the horror misdirect is a good touch too, I like when movies explore different genres and don’t commit to being one thing. Super underrated imo.
