It's fascinating how it can be the simplest opening for beginners and yet one of the most complicated for the experts

My grandpa taught me chess, but was always intimidated to play, cause I felt like I was way too stupid. Just in these last 1-2 months or so I felt a pull towards chess, and found this channel. Turns out it's not stupidity - you just need to invest time, energy, like every hobby (for me it is). Today got my first ever win with a 400 robot by playing King's Indian - yeah I know, it's not much, but it's honest work. And certainly it was a huge dopamine hit for me. Thanks, enjoy your games everyone!

Me: *Watches several times, appreciates the easy to understand breakdowns and progressions.*
Also me: Tries it in a game, immediately screws up.

Chess is hard :-D

The Kings Indian is an amazing opening, it carried me through 600-1100 Elo. Maybe you could do a remake? Just a thought.

I have been using this opening, I typically find myself in a messy position early. Thanks for the vid tho, you are putting out some content.

I'm a lowly 500 player, but at this level this opening is starting to treat me very well.

By watching this video, and using only this opening, from a plateau of 900, I climbed to 1000 in one day and one sitting. That combination of the knight hiding the discovered attack from the "fianchettoed" bishop can be really useful. It felt amazing. Admittedly however, I seem to have dropped back down in one or two bad nights.

I'm a beginner and this really helped me. I was struggling in the opening on black but when I implemented the king's indian i started winning more games. Thanks gotham!

You won't see this Levy, but just know that ever since I watched this video I've been finally able to enjoy black defensively. This is literally the only black opening I play ever and I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart from opening my eyes to this. Please do more videos on it, or cover the Pirc!

Love from Portland, Oregon.

This one also relevant for me. This was a system I tried learning and using many years ago. One upon a time I had a book (actually, I still have it (c) 1975) by Larry Evans on the Reti system (which is similar, but not identical, I know). I need to get back to this and try it again some. I did always find it hard to decide what to do (how to attack) once I got the basic setup. I need to practice/try it of course.

Over the span of a year the King's Indian has carried me from a beginner 100 rapid ELO to 1500. Love the opening. So many sharp positions. Thanks Levy, I watched this a year ago to begin my journey.
