I always stick a 4 inch nail in the top and cover with some tape. Just used some that I sealed up over 2 years ago. peeled of the tape/removed the nail and put it in the gun. Pumps pefectly first try.

Great tip! Well made, and a bit funny! And, myself being a Yank, I always love hearing Brits talk with their accent! Thank you sir for your contribution!!

I found that if I apply some silicone around the thread of the base it will seal there so only need to worry about the very end

Good idea. At the price of silicon a good money saver

The cuppa at the end is well worth a like

Is it only me that found the positioning of the caulk gun at 1:12 quite comical in a Carry On film kind of way? 😂

I normally use a glad wrap bag or Cling Wrap and wrap it over the hole, and then screw the nozzle on

Thanks a lot for this very helpful video. Much appreciated.
I thought it might also be a good idea to put a date on the tube so you'll know just how long the silicone has been curing.

I wish you would have shown us how that tube of silicone look a couple of weeks later. That way we could see how well your method seal the tube of silicone and how easy it would be to pull out the dried-up silicone left on that rubber finger. Anyway, thanks for the tip! I'm gonna give it a try!

Good video, very clear. Question, does it help to store it in the fridge?

And your nozzle will crack! Right at the thread! :-))) I had it a couple of times before, so I only cover the top of the nozzle!

Surely the polythene is the only useful thing. The nozzle could be scraped and flushed out after use. As long as the end is clear there wont be any problems.

Hi there. Thanks for sharing. Would kitchen cling film work for both parts you are trying to protect? Thank you again. Ana

I like saving money but not the inconvenience; for instance, while you're doing all of that, the water leak in the kitchen is getting worse by the second. I just bought 12 nozzle end caps and 5 threaded tube caps from eBay, cost me just under £6 in total... 👍🏻

I don't see the point in sealing the nozzle and the base. Just remove the nozzle, seal the base, then clean out the nozzle.

I heard some people put it in the freezer

I found an easier and better way to do it: Cover the opened part of the tube with dripping candle wax. The contents inside will NEVER dry.
