Like you said Kuba, Hades isn't stupid. He wouldn't move Kratos' family to the temple the night of the burning because he knows Kratos would easily put 2 and 2 together

Instead, Hades would have the family killed by barbarians and then gift Kratos the privilege of visiting them in Elysium if he served him

I stick to believing the one on the fire was Athena, telling Kratos that Ares was responsible for the death of his family.
This way, Kratos became Athena's champion, and she manipulated Kratos to become the destroyer of Olympus. The only thing Kratos wasn't supposed to do, was releasing hope for the world instead of returning it to Athena.
