This water bottle with holes experiment can be used to demonstrate the influence of air pressure and surface tension, or you can use it as a great prank on your friends too!

The science behind this fun trick:

Believe it or not, the surface tension of water molecules actually allows water molecules to bond together enough to help keep the water from leaking out of the holes in the bottle.

With the help of the surface tension, and the difference of air pressure outside of the bottle and inside the bottle is why the water does not leak out of the bottle.

It is due to the atmospheric pressure I guess.when the bottle is closed the atmospheric pressure at time comes to zero. That's why when pressure tends to zero the outward pressure resisted it to be in the bottle.Bernouli theorem.

what happens is that the water bottle is trying not to make a vacuum so basically water cant come out unless air can replace it from the top, thats why no water comes out when its closed.
