When I was bartending I'd take 'smoking' breaks with a straw... my colleagues were all smokers and I was getting fed up with running around while they were taking 5 every hour.

Dying. When I was in the Air Force, dudes would stop all work to take a smoke break. My supervisor would tell me to go get all the equipment for the maintenance job while they smoked, often making me wait longer while they take a second break. Eventually, I started talking "fresh air breaks" and that fool had the audacity to tell me I was being unprofessional. I still laugh at that idiot.

I worked in my country's Civil Service. Smokers were allowed a 5 min smoke break every couple of hours. I asked why I couldn't have the same break. They said I wasn't a smoker.
I bought a single cigarette, which you could do then, and back in work took it out of my pocket and walked out with it for my "smoke break".
Never lit it up once.
They were getting 20 mins a day, actually more like 30-40 mins because they really took the piss, extra breaks.

I thought at least it's a lot healthier and cheaper, but then she threw the paci away....I can't imagine how much she would have to spend on pacifiers each month to do this.

Overtime working Julie probably spent most if not all of her overtime money buying new infant pacifiers to replace the ones she threw on the ground (even though a new infant pacifier would be just as effective as the one she discarded on the ground).

This reminds of when almost 25% of the population smoked. The smoker could leave work for a smoke break but us non smokers had to keep working. 😤 I would joke about a nonsmoking break and then get back to work. 🙄
