August 1, 2008: The deadliest day on the world's most dangerous mountain.

In August of 2008, 22 climbers from several international expeditions converged on High Camp of K2, the last stop before the summit of the most dangerous mountain on Earth. 48 hours later, eleven had been killed or simply vanished into thin air. Like a horror movie come-to-life, it was as if the mountain began stealing lives, one climber at a time.

One such climber was the fun-loving, friendly Ger McDonnell, the first Irishman to summit K2. Faced with a moral dilemma after finding three climbers tangled and struggling in K2's perilous "death zone", Ger defied the climber's code and attempted to help his fellow climbers descend. This is as much Ger's story as it is an homage to the fearsome power of nature. #TheSummit

Who is here to pay a tribute to the latest missing climbers on the Savage Mountain, the world's deadliest? Respect to Muhammad Ali Sadpara, Snorri and Mohr!

Heartbreaking to be just minutes away from the summit, but those who live to tell the tale are the ones who turned around in time to get down safely.

SHERPA is the best film on mountaineering. the disgusting ethics of very rich men putting the lives of the very poor at risk by their selfish indulgence.

Looking at K2 is seeing a truly beautiful mountain, and yet it’s also a treacherous and scary mountain. It’s amazing how something can be breathtakingly beautiful and terrifying at the same time!
K2 is definitely the mountaineers mountain, the extreme height (2nd only to Mt Everest which is far easier), the sheer steepness and technical difficulty, the unpredictable weather conditions, the intense danger and high risks and, its remote location are just such a challenge for any accomplished climber.

Some mountains are not created for climbing. Don't be foolish in the name of adventure...

I do not recommand go to summit, its cold, there is no 4G, the food is bad cuz its usually cane food, and they dont sell food on the way up if you are hungry for some fast food.

Beautifully shot, poor recreation of events, by the end you're asking ok what happened to the 11 climbers that died, they maybe only explain half..

How much of this film was filmed during the actual event ?  Such as that firt guy who slipped down the hill that sunny day; surely that was not the actual incident?
