Describing ego as another organ that can malfunction is a very useful metaphor, thanks

Finally! An info about Ego is not being bad or good as well

This is such a unspoken about perspective, esp "ego is just a function" and it's about if it acts on its own out of balance. "unable to perceive the actions of our mind" wow!

Perceiving is different than accepting. Accepting is different than taking action to change. But this can definitely be a first step.

I absolutely love how excited and engaged Dr K gets when he’s given a concept to dig into and break down

I think one of the reason Dr. K's lessons work is the objective words being used. Dr. K gives you power by looking at things in a purely objective manner so that judgement and ego are erased from the equation give you full access to all the help and resources you may need.

Perfect analogy with regard to ego, well done & very articulate!

I can perceive them... it's just that I always perceive it after I already do it. Sometimes I'm in the middle of making a mistake and I don't have the mental energy to combat it. I see so many people use delusion to cope with life and wonder if I should just join them.

"So the activity of any part of us, physical or mental, that acts on its own without the perception and control of the rest of the organism, any part of us that is imbalanced will lead to a lack of health." Me when brain stem 😭

I think this metaphor can also be applied to society: If one organ seperates itself from the rest and tries to act against it this will lead to a unhealthy society

Yes you truely discribed the ego well as an organ, I thought before that I should or I could Kill my ego but it's impossible, it's a part of us and the more important is to find balance and health
Thank you for your explanations

I have a similar relationship with logic. At work, it helps me to solve problems. But when in distress, I manage to totally convince myself in the inevitability of failure.

Granted, malfunctioning is pretty much the entire reputation of the appendix. The ego isn't far behind in that regard

i guess thats also why acknowledging that there is a problem is the first step ^^

Correct me if my understanding is wrong
But it's like every cure can be a poison and every poison can be a cure.
And thus the solution to all this is openness and humility.

That's probably the best explanation of narcisissm😂

Okay, I have BPD and I accept it wholeheartedly. I express it as Quiet BPD, I am highly functional but I still do have BPD. My therapist just fired me because of one splitting episode. I apologized profusely and accepted my part on the situation.
How do I move on from this? What else do I need to do? Yes, I am a borderline, now what? Please do help me because I don’t know what to do
