I have to say, as someone who has worked in the fish keeping industry for the last 17-and-a-half years and is a staunch believer in 'old school' forms of conventional information distribution on aquarium keeping (i.e., 'books'), your channel is by FAR the most 'synced up' with aquarium literature I have EVER seen! EVERY video I have seen almost COMPLETELY corresponds with the wealth of information provided by the plethora of aquarium books I have read and continue to reference when consulting future fish keepers.

I know it seems like a weird bench-mark to compare online information to, but considering the fact that aquarium literature is edited and written by various experts in the field--something sorely lacking in the online realm--having an online resource whose information corroborates very much with aquarium literature in a beginner-friendly, easy-to-digest format is a GOD-SEND in my line of work. Because of the modern trend of referencing information from the web instead of a book, having an online source like your channel is the digital answer to my prayers: I enthusiastically refer new aquarists to your channel every chance I get! I thank you eternally for this gift from the aquatic realm. :)

I put my 3 blue sword tail gups in with my platinum betta Percy and They have been getting along great. Percy didn't seem to mind the snail or ghost shrimp so I took a chance and added the 3 fish. Having them together actually improved Percys activities and he's exploring more of his environment. I love having them.

Thanks for the great video. Guppies always remind me of The Ogden Nash poem:

Whales have calves,
Cats have kittens,
Bears have cubs,
Bats have bittens,
Swans have cygnets,
Seals have puppies,
But guppies just have little guppies.

Guppies are amazing from a genetic standpoint too. You can watch how slowly over generations their appearance change. Just make sure to introduce males/females from different phenotypes though to get them to mix.
Over a while of keeping Guppies, you end up breeding your OWN unique phenotype of guppies in your aquarium =)
Ours ended up with a gorgeous iridescent body, orange back, fiery red tail, with a black body spot, stripe or lack of it. The females were plain with an iridescent white-slightly orange gradient tail with spots.

You can really make your aquarium unique to yourself!

I’m here after I went to the LFS and bought a bag of ghost shrimp. I got 20 shrimp and the clerk accidentally caught a tiny feeder guppy with them. She just threw it in for free. So this lucky guppy somehow fell out of the net during purchase and into the shrimp tank 3ft below, escaped the shrimp during that time, caught up with a big haul of shrimp to finally end up in my 30 gallon planted community tank. She’s living the good life! Happily exploring and snacking on everything she chooses. She has grown 3x in size since bringing her home. She has no color, just a white grayish guppy. I feel good knowing I rescued this little fish from certain doom simply by this fish’s luck.

Guppies give me nostalgia. My dad and grandpa were big fish keepers and I got my first tank, a 12 gal, and I got to choose the guppies I want. They had a little decoration cave thing, a bunch of plants, an elevation in the sand and some corries and dwarf placo's. They made sure the filter was right and there were water changes and I just had to make sure they ate well and watched them grow. My dad also taught me to number females to males 2 to 1 so the females don't get stressed out and boy did I have a baby boom. Dad I'm not ready to be a parent!

My poor little betta fish passed away yesterday. I am so upset and don’t feel I can get another one at the moment. He was such an individual. A friend at work suggested guppies so I may take a look in a few days time. They look pretty and lively.

I have a female and male pair of Dwarf Cichlids. I think they're perfect tank mates for my guppies. They hang out at the bottom of the tank and look gorgeous and don't get very big. It's fun watching them do their mating behaviors too. My guppies take up the middle and top parts of my tank and provide color and entertainment there as well. Both fish species had different swimming paterns and behaviors so it provides a bit of variety to the tank. Highly recommend! Just do the research on the dwarf cichlids beforehand.

I am from Trinidad, an island in the South Caribbean. Guppies are native to our island, of course in the wild they don't have the brilliant fan tails, however their bodies are brightly coloured. They are called "millions" because they are prolific breeders. Many of us started off with wild caught guppies as our first fish before moving on to pet store fish. They co-exist in the same environment with corys and plecos, along with acaras and wolf fish and freshwater sardines.

I've rescued 5 guppys from a friend of mine who wanted to get rid of them. Long story short they aren't 5 anymore 😂 more like 20

I picked up 20 feeder guppies for my young Oscars. I setup a 5 gallon holding tank for them so I could medicate and feed them well, I wanted my Oscars to have quality fish if they were going to be eating live you know? But then when I went to net out the guppies.... and I saw all the babies in the tank I just fell in love with them.

I now have 4 tanks setup just for breeding common feeder guppies. The colors of some of the males is just breathtaking. I even have one that can change the color of its tail from yellow to black and literally no one I’ve shown the video to has ever seen anything like it.

Guppies are amazing.

That's exactly my current 29g population -- 15 guppies and a couple corys patrolling the bottom and hiding in the aquascape. There is always something interesting going on in there, and zero drama with aggression, predation, etc. It is peaceful to watch and definitely a great stress-reducer at the end of the day.
