Algebra 2 – The Binomial Theorem

What? Pascal gets his own triangle? That's not fair, what if I wanted a rhombus? I'd call it "Robert's Rhombus." Until that day, we'll use Pascal's Triangle for binomial expansions. Fear not, we'll define "binomial" and how to do all that stuff well.

Most notably, the Binomial Theorem Formula is also introduced, to help us arrive to any term we wish. It involves the "combination" formula (also sometimes called "choose" or "select"), so if you need to visit that topic, that lesson is right below. YAY MATH!

Expanding a two-term binomial raised to the fourth power (x+4)⁴ requires less work thru the brute force method than with Pascal's Triangle. There is slightly more copy with the brute force method, but only around 5% more so hmmm...
I imagine that as the power increases, pascals triangle becomes less work than brute force?

I there. I am learning maths again. And this is new for me, never heard off. So I have a question. When we use the binominal expression (x+3) square by 4. The result needs to be what? It could be different Terms? The exercise will tell me witch term I need to look for? For the binominal exercise, we always use the Pasquale triangule? Many thanks

Good video! I would just be careful with your terminology when talking about indices. You say raised to the power a fifth or a third. That is incorrect, you want to raise the terms to the power three and five not third and fifth.
