Why the C5 Corvette is Still the BEST Performance Value

preview_player
Показать описание
The C5 Corvette is the best performance value on the market. Rear wheel drive, six speed manual, and the legendary LS1, all for around $15k. Corvettes have always been about giving the consumer more for his or her money, but they're definitely not used that way. But think about it: older folks tend not to drive their cars and they tend to take good care of them, meaning there are still a LOT of C5 Corvettes out there that have been pampered for much of their lives. Look hard, and you might even find a Corvette diamond in the rough. Hope you enjoyed the video! Check out two simple mods below that will make your ownership experience better.

None of these cars are still equiped with the original batteries. So not an issue in 2022. Same for the stock runcrap tires.

The Oil Pressure Sensor is a $60 part and takes 30 minutes to swap out yourself with the right tools. It's not a matter of if yours will fail it's a matter of when.

Bought mine new for my 25th birthday. Still have it in my garage 23 years later.

I just bought my first one. 2005 C6 with 14, 650 miles. I wanted another 911, the years I was shopping for would set me back a starting price of 69K I watched Jay Leno’s 1999 C5 story……..was immediately sold. The C5 and C6 Corvettes are the best buy the the regular hard working guy/gal. Your great video explains it all Affordable, good looking, easy to work on and much aftermarket goodies available. I paid 32K, not a my C6 is in showroom condition ! I can buy 2 Corvettes for the price of one, expensive on al angles ! 911

243 heads, LS6 intake, headers and a camshaft do wonders for that car! Obviously there are tons of aftermarket heads/intake options for that setup but being able to use the factory LS6 equipment really keeps it budget friendly while getting you stellar gains!

I remember when these came out how it was such a game changer for the brand. Car mags comparing it to the 550 Maranello, talk of how the styling borrow allot from the FD RX7 which to me was a good thing as that was a great looking car. That red was pretty epic too. My step dad has pretty much that same spec as you and he is the total stereotype 70 something who rarely ever drives it, rubs it with diaper cloth a strange amount and thinks it’s some irreplaceable treasure. Hope to buy his irreplaceable treasure from him for 10k someday 😝

For 15 years, I'm the 4th owner of a 2000 coupe. I don't really consider selling it because its resale value wouldn't cover the cost of anything half as enjoyable to own. And it's VERY enjoyable to own. People still walk up to me on the street and tell me how much they love it (before asking for spare change). I've paid several times as much $ to get it to 100K miles than I paid to support my last Camry and my current Accord to get to that milestone, combined. I figure I'll be paying about $6000 in the next 2 years to get all the current issues sorted, but that's nothing when I consider what a great car I have at the end of that billing period. The only possible replacement I can imagine is a '60s-'70s British sports car, like an MG or a Triumph. But, I'd be giving up so many comfort/convenience luxury accessories that I'm really not tempted.

C5 = Best Buy
I've had mine for 21 years and I love it just as much after 55k miles as the day I took it home from the dealership..
I've had no problems with it, but I have done preventative maintenance like replacing the harmonic balancer.
I've also performed the steering column lock issue.

In case anybody is curious, a C5 Corvette with Z51 suspension, 6-speed trans, Hawk HP+ brake pads, High-Temp brake fluid, and Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3 tires is an absolute bang for the buck track weapon. If you're looking to shame Porsches and BMWs at Mid-Ohio or VIR, look no further. Bonus is you can fit all your track day gear in the hatch and drive home when you're done. The C5 rules.

Love my 2001 C5 Corvette. Very dependable and a daily driver. Runs strong and it's fun at the track. Oh and it's a automatic transmission and I love it. Point and shoot.

I got a 98 with 115k miles on it. I've had it for about a year at this point and still love everything about it. Originally had problems with shifting and all problems were fixed with new transmission fluid. Had problems with over heating, fixed with a radiator flush. The car is practically bullet proof and has been my daily driver for the whole year that I've had it. Big plus is that it averages about 27-28mpg when I don't drive it hard.

I look love my C5. I don't compare my car to another one. We all have our different opinions about different models. I admire you all Corvette owners for being part of "The Corvette Nation"
