I recently had a C5 given to me by my parents, a 2000 with 110000 miles on it. No leaky battery but it was replaced immediately with an Optima, which was convenient because the battery that was in it fit perfectly into my Jeep. I also immediately treated it with Techtron, the idle improved right away.

Great advice....If you still use lead acid batteries, please be sure to use an acid neutralizing battery mat underneath it. Simply, cut to fit. They are super absorbent and will neutralize any acid that comes in contact with it.

My fuel Guage is was sticking intermittently, I was told by a guy at a car show to try techron.. I ran the tank to about an 1/8th, poured in a bottle of techron & 10 gallons of high Octane gas. Problem had gone away and never came back. I do another treatment at the same time I change my oil

And keep an eye on the harmonic balancer and tensioner pulleys...

Hey Jim, Thank you very much. From a guy that makes a living fixing broken corvettes. Giving that advice is very noble. Have a great day!!

As soon as I got my 2001 Vette' I put an acid absorbing mat below the battery. It's wider and longer than the battery so if anything oozes out of it, the mat will catch it. I also went and changed the harmonic balancer from Summit Racing. Didn't need to but did it for assurance.

That’s why you use a dry cell battery’s they cost more but they last longer and make more power. They also don’t leak acid all over your computer that sits below your battery. They also don’t drop cells on a stiff suspension vehicle like and acid battery’s do. I had a dry cell last 13 years in a C2 that I didn’t drive much but was hooked up to a trickle charger. No lead acid battery will last that long.

I've been running the marvel oil in my C5 tank at every fill up. I've heard good things about it, so I started putting it in all of our vehicles ('97 Vette, '07 Silverado, '16 Crosstrek) and I even noticed a smoother idle in the Subaru. Have yet to add it to oil during changes.

Actually the battery in the c5 is supposedly to be an agm battery anyway not a lead acid.

That is exactly what I’m dealing with. So much so that photo of the battery tray looked just like mine. WHAT IS THAT HARNESS I NEED TO REPLACE! lol I’m so tired of not driving it but I’m in electrical hell. What do I need to buy to correct this.

I have a C5. Replaced my fuel pump at 64k miles. Not that hard to change just need to know the rivets are threaded. Knock the heads off and unscrew the studs. Biggest cost is replacing the clutch

Add replacing factory valve springs with aftermarket heavy duty valve springs, it could save you from having to replacing an engine. Factory valve springs are weak and can break at anytime with normal driving.
