"A pitaya or pitahaya is the fruit of several cactus species indigenous to the region of southern Mexico and along the Pacific coasts of Guatemala, Costa Rica, and El Salvador. Pitaya is cultivated in East Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, the United States, the Caribbean, Australia, Brazil, and throughout tropical and subtropical regions of the world.

Pitaya usually refers to fruit of the genus Stenocereus, while pitahaya or dragon fruit refers to fruit of the genus Selenicereus (formerly Hylocereus), both in the family Cactaceae. The common name in English – dragon fruit – derives from the leather-like skin and scaly spikes on the fruit exterior. Depending on the variety, pitaya fruits may have sweet- or sour-tasting flesh that can be red, white, or yellow in color."

There's something incredibly beautiful about the endless cycle of young tendrils emerging and reaching for the sun before collapsing under their own weight and becoming the foundation for new growth

Wind is super important in developing structural integrity in plants. Same reason why tree rings aren’t perfectly symmetrical.

I really appreciate that you always mention the time that it takes to grow the things you're growing in each video. Makes it more realistic versus "that guy did it in less than a minute on his video. Bet I could do it in week"

You need a more intense grow light to prevent it from getting so leggy.

Good to know dragon fruit needs sunlight and not grow lights. I looked up why it was so thin and long instead of thick and wider and it said lack of sunlight

This was so beautiful I’m trying not to cry. I don’t know why, but I felt like the plant was saying “I’m growing up, Dad! Catch me! Make sure I can support myself until I am big and strong!”

There is something expressive and touching about this.
Like an example of the human struggle.
But it is not human.
Almost like all life experiences existence in a similar way.

Literally made me tear up...something deeply profound about every movement and moment of growth. Death and rebirth, it is all that we as humans will ever experience.
