S22 Ultra VS Mi 11 Ultra Camera Comparison (Photography)

This comparison is probably going to surprise a lot of people... I know I was astonished by how close it was... it does however indicate an interesting trend that we have been noticing in recent flagship cameras... more to come so stay tuned!

So I did mention this at the end of the video but this is a slightly modified style of camera comparisons I wanted to try out... basically we are pitting the new flagship (S22 Ultra) against an older one (Mi 11 Ultra) in situations where the previous gen flagship excels... I would love to hear any and all suggestions from you guys to improve these comparisons so do lemme know... and video comparisons are gonna come real soon... provided I don't get sick again😂😂

In my opinion the Mi11 ultra ist better in almost everything. The main Camera ist better, the 5x is definitely better and the ultra wide is better too. The only thing you could doubt to be better on the s22u is the main sensor and ofc the 10x is better. I mean the sensors on the s22u are so god damn small - the ultra wide ist like 1/2.55. all it takes is a bit of software and the mi11 ultra will be still relevant in a year. I own both devices and for photography I would take the mi11u over the s22u any day.

Currently I'm using Mi 11 ultra and it's amazing at taking photos but i really love it's video shooting capabilities so waiting for video comparison 👌

I mean, unlike Samsung Xiaomi understand photography better, Samsung is the brand that loves to brighten things up and lose ALL character in return! But I would say Sony is still the best when it comes to understanding it! I hate how people say: Yeah that phone is better because image is brighter.... WHAT!!! Like in low light as well!! (granted the mi11 ultra isn't amazing in that) But the Xiaomi 12 Pro in low light si really good! Skies are black when they are suppose to be!

My friend, how nice to see a comparison of yours again, which I believe are among the best and most complete among youtube channels.

Congratulations on your work... I could question the scenario used a little, however, in general it is very interesting to see how they behave even in a not very nice environment, about that I think they have already chosen better environments. Mere personal opinion, other than that, exceptional work.

I have a S21 Ultra Exynos and honestly I think it would behave much better than the Mi 11 Ultra, as it did last year. This year, I chose not to buy the S22 because of several choices that in my opinion were poorly made by Samsung, harming photos, performance, battery and cooling of the device. I would really... really like a comparison of the S22 with the S21, but I think I saw in one of the answers that you don't have it anymore. It's a shame... it would be a great comparison!

I found your opinions and considerations on the photos to be very coherent.

I was already and I was even more disappointed with the S22 Ultra, reminding me a little of what the S20 Ultra was, which fortunately I didn't buy either.

Before closing my comment I have 2 questions:
1) What is your S22 chipset?
2) What do you think of it in general, and especially in terms of the camera, including comparing with the various tests you did last year in relation to the S21 Ultra?

Hello, I've been thinking about buying a phone for about two years, finally I bought the phone that I thought about buying two years ago because it's still good in the camera part! I didn't think I would come across such ridiculous shortcomings.
1- Why can't I switch cameras while recording?
2- Why hdr video only on main camera and 4k 30fps ?
3-Why can I get the created copy as the highest 4k 30fps when I want to cut the video I shot in 4K 60fps?
4-And why aren't they mentioned in any of the reviews?

Allow me to ask about settings you had in mi 11 ultra,
Was AI on or off? Off would provide way better and realistic colours. AI enhances colours in a way that I do not prefer.

Do you have enhanced image quality activated?

Did you turn off beautify or was it kept activated?

I don't agree on 12:29
You can fix the colours or the WB in post but that soft blurred edge detection across the whole left arm in S22U is a direct put off for me.

Edit: also on 14:25 - the road had better texture on the Mi 11U whilst it also retaining marginally better highlights.
The 30x on the S22U is mind-boggling, though. As is the night mode portrait shot.

Colours and exposure can easily be adjusted in post... But absolutely nothing can compensate for detail... And in this regard nothing can touch the Mi 11 Ultra's main, ultra wide & telephoto for sheer details... ⭐⭐⭐ Always remember Samsung has tiny sensors for its ultra wide & telephoto cams... versus half inchers for the Mi 11 Ultra.
