Earth Breathes as Seasons Change

The seasons change in seconds in this new NASA timelapse flyover of planet earth.

Using data from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) aboard NASA's Terra satellite, scientists and data visualizers stitched together a full year's worth of monthly observations of the land surface, coastal oceans, sea ice, and clouds into a seamless, photo-like mosaic of every square kilometer (.386 square mile) of our planet.

These monthly images reveal seasonal changes to the land surface: the green-up and dying-back of vegetation in temperate regions; and advancing and retreating snow cover. The Blue Marble - Next Generation - offers a year's worth of monthly composites in remarkable detail.

0:14 it's interesting to see how during the Summer, Spain and certain parts of Italy look like a continuation of the Sahara. I've lived in Rome for a few years and I can confirm that during the Summer, the landscape makes it feel like a savanna. Coming from London, such dry Summers have always felt so depressing. Then again, South-East England also gets pretty dry as you can see, though nowhere near as dry as Italy

Yes, it seems that we will not notice that the acting planeta seems to be breathing. What if there is an increase in those who make smoke, isn't the heat repenting, and that means, we will know when our planet breathes, when the increase in smokes starts, we will see that it is as if our planet is no longer breathing 😢😢
