This is actually my favourite scene from the movie

I was expecting to see someone in the comments point out that due to the infinite realities in the tesseract Murph eventually figures out the equation to save humanity, hence Murph(y)'s law. Whatever can happen, will happen.

I've seen a comment in here referencing this same thing, and I came to this video to see other people with the same perception but it wasn't fully explained so i want to share the beautiful overarching theme in interstellar that is commonly overlooked. From the beginning we are introduced to the idea of Murphy's Law - whatever can happen will happen. This seems to the viewer as a simple theory that is touched upon through the movie. I guess the way it is commonly re-stated reduces from the idea of "Chekhov's gun" that Murphy's law poses in the film. In the very end, Cooper is brought to the tesseract - a 5 dimensional place in a 3 dimensional plane. In this 5th dimension, coop is able to communicate with Murph through the use of gravity - which we are told is the only thing that transcends the 4th dimension: space-time. The way that Coop leads himself, to the NASA program and eventually to Murph discovering how to harness gravity to form wormholes - is, in itself, Murphy's law. This endless time cycle of Cooper leading Cooper is somewhat detached from the timeline of everything that came before and after it, because when you think about it enough, you notice how the discovery of harnessing gravity is not just influenced, but born by the discovery of harnessing gravity. You are stuck in this loop where the discovery is birthed by itself - thus it only WILL BE discovered because it CAN BE... Murphy's Law!!!! Im sorry if this was totally obvious to everyone and i know that was a horrible explanation but fuck me it makes this plot so fuckin beautiful

And, now we know that the "observer" can "change" the waveform of reality itself. Go figure right? hahaha. Knowing that, Murphy's Law needs a revisit. We are living in an energy extraction matrix (like a mulit-player game), and the Non Player Characters here are trying to "agitate" us into going through all the permutations.

The whole “Murphy’s Law” in this movie was wrong purposely to add in a bit of humour. Murphy’s law is not whatever can happen will happen. Murphys law is the more you fear something happening, the more likely it is to occur. Therefore by making a mistake in the movie by using the wrong meaning of murphy’s law, the writers appear to have got it wrong…
