The Halberdier is an infantry unit in Age of Empires II: The Conquerors that can be trained at the Barracks upon reaching the Imperial Age. An upgrade of the Pikeman, it has a huge attack bonus against cavalry, particularly elephants.

Halberdiers are weak against almost any units outside the cavalry class, but make up for it by being one of the cheapest military units in the game. Additionally, no gold is required to train them, making them trash units.

The only OP unit in the game for me is the halberdier, honestly. And yes, it has many easy counters but it's cost effectiveness against cavalry, especially camels and elephants is ridiculous. A Celtic or Slavic death wall of halberdiers and seige is almost unbeatable if the player is even decent. No unit in the game scares me more than a horde of halberdiers.

Goth Halberdier with higher attack and lower armor is still better than Byzantine Halberdier with lower attack and higher armor
