There is no such thing as company loyalty in the modern generation, remember this people! The company will let you go the moment it makes financial sense

It's fucking stupid that you'll fire a productive worker for having another job at the same time, it's crazy how fucking stupid managers can be. If I'm pulling in my KPI's please don't bother with the details of what I do with my downtime, thank you very much.

As someone who worked three jobs in college for a total of about 70 hours a week and all of the employers were aware of the other two jobs, it's perfectly legal. They don't need to know the details of your hours or how many hours you work at other jobs. The issue may come into to play if they are competitors so be careful there. But there's nothing wrong with being say... a contract project manager for Starbucks and IBM. If the employer has an issue with you working at more than just their company, run. Because they want to have free reign to run you into the ground.

I wish I could say I was surprised by how many people on LinkedIn were appalled by this article, haha! From my experience and observation, this is quite common. Companies don't provide the same stability they used to, and if you're getting things done with results more quickly? That shouldn't be punished, it should be celebrated. I understand why hourly rates/reqs are in place to simplify things, but what matters most is that a) the work gets done and b) it gets done well.

My first job out of college, I was part of a small team that wrote up reports. Our company was paid by the number of reports we put out. I could finished my weekly reports quota and then some in less than 12 hours. I did this through automation. On the other hand I had a much older co-worker who would work 45 hours a week and he struggled to meet the minimum quota. We both had to stay in the office for 40 hours...eventually they started to allow us to work 8 hours less a week if we met our numbers but that was still way longer than I needed to be there

If possible to do it short term and put away cash in the unpredictable times we're living in, go for it.

First week of me doing this. The only issue is getting around the meeting clashes..honestly if you can find two remotes where one barely has meetings i think its doable..im done at 5pm at both jobs..

No need to work 2 full-time remote jobs....it's time for people to realize you can be a freelancer and have a handful of clients and make 6 figures.

I have a full time jobs and my boyfriend is working from home with 1 full time and 2 contracting jobs just so we can try and get a house because the cost of a house is outrageous. And still it will take another year to have just the down payment. And nothing else.

I haven't been able to fully apply this, but I do have one full time 90% remote job with a 100% remote contracting job that is about 20ish hours a week. This trend has definitely helped me out. One of my buddies caught onto this early in the pandemic and did on W-2 and a per diem job for a full year. He was my inspiration, I was surprised how many others caught onto this.

I have multiple managers and employees pinging me all day every day on email, slack, skype, tg, and even text. I think this would only work for certain kinds of jobs, especially ones that are project based and don't have enough to do in a single day.

This is highly common in technology. It's highly contracted and hourly rates are common.

As a first-generation immigrant in the US, I fully embraced the individualism ideology and the "I don't give a fuck" attitude of this country. Thus, I'm rocking 3 jobs now. BUT, THIS IS UNETHICAL. It's called a "full-time job", not a gig.
It's like you (employer) paying for the entire Uber ride and your Uber driver (employee) picking up more clients on the same ride because there are seats available.
Anyway, I don't give a fuck as long as I'm living a good life, I will probably give some BS reasons like employer loyalty, my superb productivity/efficiency, blah blah blah if someone confronts me in real life. As I said, I fully embraced American values.

Yup and yet they complain about how their current employer doesn’t offer them work life balance. Truth is that they will probably lose that opportunity to earn more with a second job.

If I was the employer I would probably slap a pay cut by 50% as it meant you can only afford to put in 50% into your work quality by taking on 2 jobs at once. Plus they shouldn’t be given healthcare and benefits as an independent contractor

Also: *love* B*llshit Jobs! It's an amazing book, read it while on my subway commute for an office job in Japan. This article definitely gave me callbacks to the book (in a good way).

I have 2 jobs and told my full time work that I had another job, it just can’t be in the same field. I do not work them at the same time. I work 1 outside the home and the other night and weekends online. I had to get another job when my husband had a heartache and he was 60% of our income.

That sounds awful to me. I'd never keep them all straight.
