How to Measure for a Storm Door

I share a couple tips on how to measure for a storm door.
For the width, measure the exterior trim at the top, middle and bottom. Use the smallest measurement for the storm opening.
Measure the height from the door sill to the inside of the top trim.
Measure the width and depth of the outside trim.
Depending on the storm or screen door you purchase, you may need to know the door handle clearance.

Perhaps a silly question, but do you want exact measurements, or do you want to leave a little room for the door to swing? For example, I have a door where they exact width is 32.25 inches wide. Do I order 32.25 inches, or do I order 32?

This is frustrating. I found a perfect door for a good price that's 32x78 and my door is 32x75. Then to get a door exactly that size is an extra $150. What the hell?

hm so is it better to measure along the trim or casing? and i like the idea pf a rain guard

my door does not have a frame that extrudes out more than 2 inches. it’s a 3 panel 62” door

so that means both doors are gonna be different sizes? the front door maybe 32" and the storm would be 30" to fit

I know this video is old, but I hope someone can help me. The measurement and the bottom of my opening is 36" and at the top 35 3/4". Opened the storm door and it allows of 1/8" tolerance either way. So it's going to be 1/8" from fitting. Anyone have any ideas?

It is not clear what yo are measuring to get the height and width. You need to hold the tape still and show a close up.This video is no help at all!!!
