Bjorn - great data, thank you. 8.5% more consumption than Kona at 120 km/h is pretty good given the larger aero profile. In these few days you've proved than the Niro is a very well designed EV - the new value champ! Now, please take it easy and get some good sleep for the rest of your trip!

200 miles at 75mph sounds perfectly fine - I try not to drive for more than 2.5 hours max without a break. The Niro is looking like a great EV for UK usage. Thanks Bjorn for all your hard work on this.

Thanks a lot, Bjorn. I wasn't expecting such a high consumption.

Takk for alle disse Niro videoene. Står på venteliste og har lurt på mye av det du har tatt opp.

My trip to Vegas and back averaging over 70 mph, 3400 miles+, up and down mountains of CO and UT, and Wh/Mi at end of trip was 256. This also included some, ahem, speed testing at lights in the city lol

Likely to have higher consumption if tested in Norway, so the difference is likely to be greater.

thank you, this one is missing on your google sheet, I think

Ouch, I got 224 Wh/Mi (139 wh / km) gaining 1k elevation over a couple hours of driving at 75mph (120KMph). Model 3 LR Aero wheels, 85-90F / 32c, AC on 74F/ 23C, 3 people in car, full of luggage.

I travelled between 120-140 km/hr for a total of 2200 km and averaged 160 wh/km on our model 3. You need to test it again. Your experience in California at lower speeds didn't do the Model 3 justice. We now have 7700 km on our M3 and the overall average is 151 Wh/km. ~ 3000 of it at 120-140 km/hr

300 km. This is the reason why you need in Germany at least 200kWh to match their „normal“ speed

Nowadays, also 120 km/h is high speed in germany! There are nearly allways speed-limits or construction sites...

Consumption is on par with the Opel Ampera-E (you measured 208 Wh/km at 120km/h, and the figure for 90km/h is comparable) And compared to the Opel, the Niro is bigger car. So it's not that bad. I still would love to see an Ioniq with this battery package, but where to fit it ;) And Steve S is right about those blue door things, they interfere with the airflow and could cost easily 30-50watts at speeds of 120km/h.

I´m German too, but in my opinion 100 km/h is fast enough ;-)

Hi Bjørn. Great info. but can you say more about the driving comfort of Kia Niro EV compared to Kona, BMWi3, Mercedes b-electric, Tesla X and more?
Best regards

Will the Niro or Kona come in a dual motor? I would be curious to see the efficiency difference.

Could you test the 100km/h ?
Thanks and good work !

Do you think the blue, cube-shaped door protectors (popular after-market fitting in Korea?) could have a noticeable, negative aerodynamic effect at higher speed?
