The Medicare part b premium (standard) will go from $148.50 a month to $170.10 a month in 2022. Social security COLA increase was only 5.9% as the premiums for Medicare part b went up by 15%. How do seniors and social security benefits help this? How does Medicare advantage plans suffer from this part b premium increase?

GOD! How I hate this administration. I wouldn't vote for him for dog catcher. He would keep the money & starve the dogs.

Medicare always takes all our raises. We're left with pennies! How the hell are we suppose to live?

I did a little math on this increase to Medicare as it relates to me. After the 5.9% increase and the increase in Part B, my increase will be 2.6%. That won't even cover the amount my rent is increasing. This month I had to make a choice between buying food and getting medicine. I chose the food.

If your income in the last 2 years was more than 91, 000 because of capital gain such as selling your home or cashing in on ira... your premium will go up regardless of your circumstance. The trustee suggested a minimal increase but the Biden admin opted for 14.8% more increase. If you are on plan g or n your deductible is going up from 203 to 233. Our ss increase is only 5.9%. On top of that living expenses are out of control. Nicor gas sent us a letter saying our heating bill (IL) is estimated at $290 A MONTH this winter. We usually pay about $80 to $120 in winter. Yet another Biden broken promise. The build back better scheme does not include anything for seniors or students or working class but it does include tens of billions to be given to those who came to the US illegally. Biden’s actions speak loud.

My grandmother got her property taxes and school taxes raised, heating oil is up, she just scrapes by now. I don’t know what she’s going to do. I go and buy her groceries when I can. It’s tuff sometimes when she needs to pay her meds and doesn’t have enough to eat. America supposed to be back 🤨. This isn’t the America that I knew. The elderly veterans and disabled it’s going to be a ruff winter. We need more stimulus money for these people

I called medicare a couple weeks ago, wanted to drop it. Customer service said I could. But if I ever needed it, I'd have to pay a big penalty. So, as my dad used to say when he got mad - "sht fire ahole to the devil:, which always makes me laugh. The only defense is a good laugh.

I started my first (part-time job while going to vocational school) in 1976 and ended in 2013. Not always 365 days every year during that lifetime, and never high or middle class wages either. But they added up. Full time steady employment for 22 years in manufacturing (with lots of overtime), the remaining in clerical, food service and home health. Some were temp jobs, and a couple of times being laid off. Social Security, Medicare and taxes out of every paycheck. And we still have to keep paying Medicare after all that time. Not for Medicaid. That was taken out of taxes. No $170.10 going to come out of Medicaid. For $841 for 2022 SSI benefits, that would make a big dent for sure. But those who worked at least for 10 years and get that amount on regular SSA or SSDI, unless they can be eligible for both, that's rather not fair to them, let alone for the rest of us who worked 10 and more. But hey, that's the way welfare type programs go, huh.

I think they should cut congress pay so they see how it feels to live below poverty level

Health care isn't free. To understand how to control Medicare premiums, we need to first understand how to control health care costs.
