Canada’s Speaker of the House of Commons, Anthony Rota, is resigning amid backlash for honouring a Nazi war veteran in Parliament.

The SIGNIFICANCE OF THIS IS THE ABSENCE OF ACCOUNTABILITY FROM THE PM. It is he who supported his child abusing candidates (and then silently fired them when the public found out), he has brought terrorists who have killed his country people to the PM office and celebrated them (and then said he didn't know they were terrorists when the public found out), he acknowledged and celebrated other terrorists in parliament and then went further to support their actions (until India and the public found out), and he has brought a NAZI and celebrated them in parliament to brush it in the FACE OF CANADIANS who have survived the terrible actions in WWII.

His ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS. He is the PM and he celebrates those he is most like and who he supports. This shows his LACK OF CHARACTER and his narcissistic sociopath nature. Just another scandal for him to get his aunt or first cousin to "investigate" him on. He is running out of FAMILY TO APPOINT TO INVESTIGATE HIMSELF ON.

It was an accident. He forgot to ask the old guy what battalion he was in. Much ado about nothing.

Did no one in his office, do any serious vetting? The 98 yr. old. veteran fought against "the Russians" in WWII. That is, the Soviets, so he was either a Nazi or a partisan. Even some of the partisan groups, which fought on against the Soviets in recently annexed West Ukraine, into the early 50s, would be "problematic" to introduce in Parliament.

Was he a Nazi or was he just some German soldier? Remember not all Germans were Nazis

Was the guy a Canadian citizen? If he is, then what's the issue?

Someone told him this dude was vetted. And yes why is Trudeau not taking the hit for it.

It was a mistake...Roda didn't know the Ukrainian war vet was in the Waffen SS and he would never have done this if he knew .
It was a terrible mistake....and Anthony Roda has paid the price ...he lost his job.

Why is it shocking? The wars been over for 80 years and the soldier likely had no choice.
