"It's called the 'Rach 2' because it's one of the most romantic pieces..." I think it's called the 'Rach 2' because it's the 2nd Piano Concerto by Rachmaninov

Fun fact Beethoven's 5th symphony is called Beethoven's 5th symphony

Up until now, including this time, I had to cry every single time I listened to this Rachmaninoff movement 😭

My mom is an incredible pianist, and I had the privilege of hearing her learn the full concerto for a piano competition. Still brings tears to my eyes 🥹

I always cry at this moment. It's like some kind of outcome of life, despite all the suffering, you confess your love for life... It's phenomenal music.

I never thought it was romantic, but definitely the second movement of Rachmaninov Piano Concerto No. 2 is a sublime piece of music, with the flaute introducing the theme, a majestic use of strings and the piano entering and developing the story. And wow, the main theme of the Adagio is something special: so delicate and giving an intense feeling of sweet sadness, which is what characterize life itself for many: a tragedy lived with joy. This concerto was composed by Rachmaninov as the first pice after a long period of lack of creativity in which he had depression. The Adagio clearly reflects his pain during this period, but you can sense that it is a pain he was able to process and turn into one of the best classical music compositions of all time.

It's called the Rach 2 because it's Rachmaninoff's seconds piano concerto not because it's romantic

Eric Carmen used the opening of the movement for the intro to his song "All By Myself." The tone of Rachmaninoff's piece is of infinite longing. A perfect fit for Carmen's ballad.

It is impossible for me to hear this without bursting into tears. This was the music used throughout the all time greatest tearjerker movie: Brief Encounter.

You play it fantastic man, congrats! It is indeed one of the most beautiful melodies ever written, my favorite concerto ever. I would say it’s a hymn to all the beauty of the world, it really elevates the soul to another dimension.

Imagine you're sitting, talking, and laughing with someone. For some reason talking to this person feels different than talking to everyone else. You can talk for hours about anything and it feels like no time has passed at all. You feel safe around this person. You feel at home. You look at them, and then, for a very brief moment, you realize that you have fallen in love. That is how I would describe this part of the piece.

This is my all time favorite moment in classical music and you played it effortlessly. As soon as you started to play, I had tingles all over my body and had tears in my eyes within a few seconds. My heart is swelling with joy at this very instant.

I believe that this is not only the most beautiful passage from Rachmaninov, but also the most beautiful, heartfelt music from all the classics. Even Chopin didn’t always do it this way! This is what is called "with all my heart." this is pure love.I would say that it is so beautiful that it is even difficult to been through. for me only Rachmaninov could write so that you just fly away
