I live in Eastern Oregon and I have seen these spiders out in the desert quite regularly. Beautiful creatures with an interesting hunting method.

i saw a video of a large trapdoor catching a equally big carpenter ant (no joke, it was almost as big as the spider) and the camera had been installed in a way it could film the capture. the spiders famgs were massive and the ant was impaled on them plus the venom took immediate effect
