The behavioural and biological processes of bee swarming is incredibly fascinating which is only magnified when I encounter a mega-swarm.

Sometimes, these enormous swarms are triggered by prolonged rainy weather. With the bees couped up inside the hive and unable to forage, natural attrition is significantly reduced. As a consequence, bees, which usually only live for about six weeks, can extend their lives by two or three weeks.

If the queen lays 2000 eggs a day, the population inside a hive can explode by 30,000, triggering swarming instinct.

I will never forget the one time I found a queen in the largest colony I ever moved. Walked up put the box down and started looking though the thousands of bees and boom she walked right into my hand all of 5 seconds.

It amazes me that you can do this without a full suit... I can't risk it, had a trip to hosptial about 5 years back, one sting...Suit up to catch a swarm or do anything else with my bees these days. I'm impressed. And not just a little bit jealous

Very smart little creatures. We rescued a swarm and fed them sugar diluted with water until they got back to shape and then gave them to a bee keeper who did us a favor because sometimes they get sick so you don’t want to mix them with healthy bee hives. I would love to have a bee hive in my back yard again

В пчелином рое может быть несколько маток и нужно просеять пчёл через специальную решётку, что бы быть уверенным !!!
