Cat rule: if head fits, body fits. Also called measuring with whiskers.

With any healthy non-overweight cat; the skull is the largest thing in the body (while in the smallest state) so as long as the head fits, the rest of the body is basically guaranteed to be able to comform to a shape that also fits.
This is mainly because of their lack of a collarbone, and their extremely flexible joints

Cats lack a true collarbone (free floating collar bone not attached to other bones) so they can fit through small stuff even if it seems impossible, so if a cat's head fits, so does the rest of the body

Edit: okay okay, I get it, fat cats can't fit but if your cat is fat or a cat you adopted is fat that's on the person who fed it to be that way not the cat itself and I'll edit my comment also to the person who said cats do have collarbones

That WAS amazing. Know why? Their whiskers are supposed to be the guide of "what ill fit through." The cat rule is, if my whiskers dont touch the sides, i fits. She went contrary to instinct there, going despite her whiskers telling her not to! Thats trust! Bravo!
