The Untaught History of Our Labor Power - Capitalism Hits Home

Dr. Fraad explains the importance of understanding labor's importance and history, even though we aren't taught it in school. However, with the term essential workers, consciousness of this labor power is returning to America.

"We have to remember that America is a class society, and there are two classes here. The employers who make money off their employees work, and the employees who create more wealth for their employer than they ever get in their paycheck... We're catching on in America that we are essential. We, who do the work of this society, we have the power. We are the essential workers, and we can change America to be a fair and honest place: a socialist place where workers are honored and recognized." - Dr. Harriet Fraad

We have labor day in September precisely to remove any connection to the Haymarket affair and the socialist and anarchist labor movement, the reason the rest of the world celebrates May day.

Since elementary in most countries kids learn of the martyrs of Chicago and labour movement and celebrate the 1st of May as the international day of workers fight for human rights. In honor of the USA's workers.

I remember Arbor Day and had to learn about the "boring pilgrims" too. Later learned more, and they were anything but boring. The stories were boring though. Pilgrims weren't looking for religious liberty. They wanted a place they could where they impose their puritanical codes without fear of contamination by heathen society. When Cromwell came to power in England, many of them went back to joyfully persecute anyone who deviated from their sects' dogmas and way of life. They were soon overthrown.

Sure! But every power has its reach. The most powerful labor power is the European social democracy. And that is really not the yellow of the egg! Thanks
