That time when you realize that Darth Maul was the only person who took the Darksaber properly-from his enemy's cold, dead hands.

Moff Gidian is right of course. The story of the Darksaber wields more power than the sword itself, and Bo Katan has never won the blade herself. The last wielder who earned it in combat was Sabine Wren. Sabine won the sword in her fight against Gar Saxon, but when Mandalore was at war with the Empire, Sabine was able to give the sword to Bo Katan because Sabine deemed her worthy. The circumstances involved were very unique because Sabine’s lack of experience compared to Bo Katan, mixed with Sabine’s blessing for Bo to take the saber meant that she could take it without winning it from her.
But that still doesn’t change the fact that she never won it herself. Sabine was able to give the saber to Bo Katan due to unique circumstances, but then she lost the sword. And by losing the sword, a shadow of dishonor has fallen upon Bo Katan. A shadow that can only be lifted if she wins the sword back through honorable combat as depicted by the ancient rules of Mandalorian culture.
Therefore, Din Djarin can’t just give her the Darksaber like Sabine did, because not only is Mandalor not technically at war (therefore depriving them of the unique circumstances of needing an immediate leader), but she was already given the Darksaber freely once just to lose it to an offworlder. The only way Bo Katan can wield the Darksaber again is if she earns it the Mandalorian way.
Or course, Bo Katan has never been one to follow the traditions of Mandalor to the letter. By creed she should have helped Mando find the Jedi without condition. But she wanted something in return. The Mandalorians on VerVarro asked for nothing in return when they helped Din escape with the child. They helped him by creed because he was Mandalorian. Also, it is the way of the Mandalore to honor ones agreements unconditionally. But Bo Katan refused to give Din the location of the Jedi until she had the Imperial ship, even though Din had already fulfilled his end of the bargain by getting her its weapons cargo. Bo Katan has proven that she is willing to bend or even break Mandalorian customs when it pleases her. After all, she started in Deathwatch as a terrorist against her own sister and only turned revolutionary after Maul won the rights to Mandalore’s throne through honorable combat (aka. Through the way of the Mandalor). She has changed sides based on her interests, with her aiding the Separatists during one part of the Clone Wars then asking the Republic for assistance during another.
In conclusion, not only can Bo Katan not get the Darksaber, she shouldn’t. Because she does not respect the original ways of the Mandalor. While Din Djarin clearly does not wish to rule, he should, because he IS honorable, upholds the original way of the Mandalor code, and won the Darksaber through combat without losing his honor. This is the Way.

You may be cool, but you’ll never be *Din Djarin walking in holding Grogu while leading Moff Gideon and holding the Dark Saber* cool

I like how Din and Bo and actually opposite of what's before. We saw Din refusing to take off his helmet, while Bo just say "nah that's ok, take it off". But here is opposite. Bo wants to follow the tradition and fight for the Dark Saber, while Din is just "nah that's ok, take it". They both stands a different way of Mandalorian

I love this scene. From the very start Bo Katan is standing there triumphant. You can see it in her eyes. "Yes the light cruiser is mine and soon I will use it and the dark sabre to take back and rule madalore." Cue Mando walking in holding the ignited dark sabre and a defeated Moff Gideon and you see her dreams just shatter. Her eyes never leave that sabre.

Can I just say this was entirely satisfying for me to watch.

We have seen Bo-Katan be a part of a coup which ended up killing her sister because Bo wanted to go back to the original Mandalorian ways. She got to watch her leader get beheaded by Darth Maul and she was exiled from Mandalore because Maul won and she wouldn't serve someone who wasn't a "True Mandalorian". Then she became a part of a second coup to overthrow Maul which ended with Mandalore being sacked by the Galactic Empire. Lost the darksaber. Insult not only Mando but Boba Fett as well for not being "True Mandalorians". And now, when someone who is not a "True Mandalorian" offer her the prize she was so desperately after, she can't accept it, because its not "The Mandalorian Way". The irony is so thick, I love it

I love the smug way Gideon just chuckles and says no no no it’s just amusing to me.

1:26 I love how the other Mandalorian in the background is just arbitrarily pushing buttons to make it look like she's doing something while a full-blown succession crisis is happening right behind her.

This is what we wanted in our villains. For them to pick apart the heroes code and to break it apart.

Gideon: She can't become queen of mandalore unless she claims that sabre by right of battle.
Mando: That's the dumbest thing i've ever heard, and I never take off my helmet because I pinky promised on it. Take the f*cking lasersword.

Din Djarin will make a better leader and the more loyal ruler of The Mandalorian Throne

Why she can't take it has been discussed a lot, and I think I've got the answer. The reason she was able to take it from Sabine is because she had the backing of all the Mandalorian clans, thus giving her the right to wield it. In fact, she _only_ took it after getting the full support of the clans. This time, she doesn't have that support, so the only way to win it back is to fight for it. That's why she can't just take it.

Kanan said in rebels that thoughts flow through the darksaber crystal when sabine mentioned how heavy it is. Implying that one must keep a cool head when using it.

Notice how Mando walked in the doors with the darksaber engaged, he walked all the way to the bridge with it on and no complaints. It's not until after he takes his helmet off for grogu that it becomes heavy for him. He feels his betrayal to the creed renders him no longer worthy of being a mandalorian and therefore the darksaber. Perhaps after he goes through the redemption in the living waters it'll respond to him better

Din Djarin: I don’t know who you are. I don’t why the Darksaber is important. All I know is that I’m the ruler of Mandalore.
