It's even worse, because had he played normally it would have changed Liluo's placement from a 3-way tie for 9th to the only one in 9th. He, Coco, and Prestivent ended up with 65 points each before finals, but he won the tie breaker to make top 8. Without this extra placement, he would have 64 points, at which point Prestivent would have won the tie breaker against Coco instead. And the CN fans' defense ranged from "there was lag" to "collusion is part of the game" to "Riot can't ban Shitouren cause CN makes them too much money" which isn't even a defense so much as it's an admission of wrongdoing with an expectation to not be held accountable. Only the Chinese could come up with that one 😂

It's tough, because you don't want to set a precedent where people are afraid to try other strategies in fear that if it doesn't work out they might be accused if match fixing and it ends their career

To me, this is like in racing where racers of the same team/brand will help each other get good enough placements to advance/win. In this case, dude helped his friend not get kicked out. Same principle.

Would an anonymous mode in tournament modes fix this kind of play?

A mode where players willbe named something random while in game for the other players POV so that you wont easily know who youre playing against?

Its very common in mainland china to do so. I ensure you if china had csgo at its peak of gambling including skin gambling, they would have made a fortune from just match fixing like all tier 2-3 matches.

Are they on the same team or is it individual? Cause if it's individual that is clearly match fixing, but if it's team it's a common tactic. Just look at F1 for example.
