Im glad someone pointed this out.
The big fad is to blame employees for bad machines. Not only are they hard to repair. But they are difficult and time consuming to clean.

"Our Ice Cream machine is down" is usually just because its being cleaned. And because McDonald's are notorious for being incredibly cheapskate about labor costs. The employees typically don't have enough staff to keep orders going out AND clean the machine.

If you're mad you can't get your ice cream. Blame the owner or corporate for not scheduling enough labor resources to clean the machine quickly while keeping the store running smoothly.

The abusive relationship toward fast food employees from the public in America is disgusting.

I worked at a McDonald's, and it was so dumb that we knew what needed to be fixed but weren't allowed to fix it because we would lose insurance.

Right to repair

If you bought a car and they made you sign a contract saying only they can fix it

( at 10x-20x the actual repair cost imagine paying 1500$ for a oil change when it’s like 100$ if you go to a shop but no you have to pay the 1500$ one)

OR they repossess THERE machine if you try to get it fixed elsewhere people would be burning dealerships down if it were cars being sold like this why are people just OK with this

The owner of the franchise also has to pay an insane amount for the repair. It's pretty much their business to provide McDonald's machines with planned obsolescence built in

I don't think i have this problem with McDonald's in my country. I always get ice cream when i ordered them

The problem is they have machines that require software. It's a freaking ice cream mixer!!! It should be as simple as ingredients in cup, turn on and mix. No computer nonsense should even be required.

Coming from someone who worked at Dairy Queen, We were always packed because McDonald's and other restaurants never got their machines fixed. Especially during the summer time or a Festival. I was the one who ended up making all the blizzards, ice cream cones and milkshakes. Those were the craziest days.

not technically true there are different types of machines some have a more manual cleaning style with scrubs and what not and others are more self cleaning with an internal flushing system that also does the heat treat part. issue is getting the workers to properly maintain the machine, it goes down bc they forget to refill when the machine tell them too, they over work the machines, and do lazy cleaning. those pics of the nasty internals is all of them across the board unless its legit brand new- they never are. But no mcdonalds workers arent technically alowed to open any of the ice cream machines or fiddle with setting for temps only approved techs should be setting those temps and pressures not some one who has no idea what the lines are rated for. Ive seen one become a grenade from this.

Every time I have gone there as an adult they have worked as a kid it was a different story. I had a freak out over not getting a milkshake.
