Pope Francis: owning cats and dogs instead of having children is 'selfish'

Pope Francis suggested people who own cats and dogs instead of having children exhibit 'a certain selfishness', during a speech on parenthood and adoption at the Vatican.

The pontiff lamented that pets 'sometimes take the place of children' and that countries were becoming older and losing their humanity as a result

He's devoted his life to his invisible friend. Never married and taken a vow of celibacy. Then calls childless married couples selfish.

Just saying, my mother has seven children, all grown and well into their thirties and forties.
And you know which child my mother loves the most, her six and a half year old dog.
And I completely get it.

Now there is a guy who has sworn to be celibate for life who is preaching to other people that they have to have children. Can he even hear himself? One wonders. :-)
